A rainy, snowy Thursday morning for Wichita

Strong north winds are shoving the wind chill into the 20s as the work day gets under way today in the Wichita area. A mixture of rain and snow flurries are expected this morning in the metropolitan area from a storm system that is dumping snow in western and central Kansas, forecasters say.

Highs should reach the low 50s this afternoon, but those winds gusting beyond 40 miles an hour will keep conditions cold. No snow accumulation is expected in Wichita, but several inches could fall in portions of southwest and central Kansas.

Friday should be much warmer, with sunny skies and highs in the 60s.
