Wichita didn’t just set a record for most precipitation in May this year, it submerged the old mark. A total of 13.14 inches fell last month, nearly 2 inches above the record of 11.22 set in 1935.
Perhaps more telling, however, is that the total was just short of 9 inches above normal for May. Nine inches!
That brings Wichita’s rainfall total in 2008 to 20.03 inches, which is 8.98 inches above normal. June looks to get off to a wet start, too, with chances of showers on several days this week.
