Plenty of rain fell in Wichita on Monday - 1.86 inches at Mid-Continent Airport on the west side and 1.59 inches at Jabara Airport on the east side. But officials reported no flooding. Why? The rain came in bands, allowing the water to soak into thirsty ground. Until Monday, March had been pretty dry in Wichita. Less than an inch had fallen over the first 16 days of the month, which included a two-week dry spell.
