Brad, we hardly knew ye

Here’s hoping Thunder fans didn’t get too enamored with the idea of big D man Brad Woods. He was acquired by the Thunder in a trade with Colorado for future considerations on Tuesday. On Wednesday, he decided to retire, Thunder GM Joel Lomurno said.

In other roster news, three defensemen were cut: Keith Detlfesen, John Fieweger and Cam Chalmers.

Look for a flurry of moves tomorrow as the team whittles the roster before leaving for Mississippi for the season opener on Friday.

With those cuts, Bedard’s paperwork & Woods leaving makes us alot short on the defensive side of the ice. I think we have 4 defensemen listed that can play on Friday, and three of them are rookies with a couple of rookie keepers. I may have to sneak a bottle of whiskey into the game on Saturday to ease the pain.

Imagine that? Another player aquired who refused to report to Wichita.I wonder why that is?

It must have something to do with the Front Office since the coaches have been changed so often.

It comes down to a difference between playing in Colorado, one of the best places to play….to playing in Wichita where there have been a couple of horrible years. Woods probably didn’t want to mess with it…or was upset that the opportunity didn’t look that great.

You forgot to mention Jason Tessier though…he is a vet that we just traded for and he reported here. We made two trades for defensemen this week….one was Tessier, the other was Woods…if we had to pick one guy to show up it is a no brainer, that would be Tessier. He is here and I’m thrilled he reported. Woods on the otherhand, would have been nice to have him but he isn’t as proven as Tessier.

I think it depends on the team we try to trade with. there is kind of a trend of getting screwed by Colorado in future considerations trades. The trade with Amarillo worked because they have been celler dwellers for years as well. maybe we need to start making trades with teams that are on our level.
