For KCAC fans, an interesting storyline to watch for in the next month or so is Friends’ pursuit of a rare triple crown for the 2011-2012 school year – pulling sweeps of both the men’s and women’s cross country, indoor track-and-field and outdoor track-and-field titles.

To win this year’s men’s cross country title, Friends had to end Southwestern’s streak of 31 straight titles.

To win the men’s track-and-field crown, the Falcons would have to break another Southwestern streak of 29 titles.

“It’s something we’ve thought about,” Friends coach Brad Peterson said. “We want to be the first team to pull off that triple crown. It would mean a lot to us, a lot to the school.”
