PITTSBURG, Kan. (AP) — Pittsburg State head football coach Chuck Broyles says he’s “embarrassed” by his arrest on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol.
Broyles, who’s also the school’s athletic director, was arrested Tuesday night in the southeastern Kansas town of Galena.
Police Chief Larry Delmont says Broyles was tested for DUI after being pulled over for speeding. Broyles was booked on the misdemeanor charge and released Tuesday night.
Broyles informed Pittsburg State officials of the arrest Wednesday. He issued a statement Friday saying he’s “embarrassed” and hopes the incident won’t tarnish the school and its football program.
The Gorillas finished the 2009 season with a record of 5-6 — their first losing season since 1977.
