Gary Karr just pointed this out to me …

ERICA BIEL

ERICA BIEL

Kansas women rule the MIAA.

That is, women’s basketball teams from the state of Kansas rule the MIAA. I don’t know if this is going to cause some sort of blip in the space-time continuum or something … but all four of the Kansas teams in the MIAA are undefeated in league play right now. That’s right — Fort Hays State, Pittsburg State, Emporia State and Washburn — all have perfect marks right now.

Don’t believe me? Check for yourself.

And Fort Hays State’s Erica Biel — a 6-foot-1 Hutchinson native and Missouri State transfer — gets a special mention here, well, because she’s tearing it up right now. Like 15.4 points and 11.2 boards per game tearing it up.

And on another note, I’m following up to see if one of our posters is correct about Washburn’s men’s roster losing a couple of key players. More on that later.

I’m out.

Girls division 2 basketball is not newsworthy. If there is to be a blog about sports, it should be about mens division 1.

    Ben,

Disagree, again. Division II women’s basketball is definitely newsworthy, especially if you have the kind of teams we have here in Kansas. But there are Wichita Eagle blogs (3 of them actually — KU, KSU, WSU) that focus on DI hoops.
