So not all of the news out of Butler is about the football team. But it seems like all of the news coming out of Butler is good news, at least. Circle High product Crystal Blue, a 5-foot-11 freshman hitter for the Grizzlies, has been named a first-team NJCAA Division II All-American.
Sunflower Slate salutes you, Ms. Blue. And props to whoever maintains the Butler volleyball site. Nice work.
Here’s the release from the Butler athletic department on her honors:
Butler freshman hitter Crystal Blue was named a first-team NJCAA Division II volleyball All-American on Thursday.
Blue, who is from Augusta and graduated from Circle High School, led the Grizzlies with 332 kills, an average of 2.5 per game. She also recorded 31 service aces, 457 digs and 59 blocks.
Blue led Butler to a 37-8 record, the best in Butler history. The Grizzlies finished the season ranked No. 9 in the Division II national poll, and had been ranked as high as third in the poll during the season.
Blue also had been named first-team All-Jayhawk Conference and All-Region VI.
