I’ve got an article in today’s paper on Cowley guard/forward Jack Crowder III, a Southeast product tearing it up for the No. 5-ranked Tigers and Steve Eck. I got to watch Crowder play last season at the Region VI tournament and he had a HUGE dunk in the semifinals — like caught everybody by surprise HUGE — and

I’ve been curious about him since. Gotta love the way dude plays … always attacking. I also got to talk to Coach Eck … and found out he hates the Internet! And blogs. But not necessarily this blog, he made sure to point out, which I thought was nice of him because he’s definitely been mentioned on here before and will definitely be on in it again in the future. His reasons for not liking the internet? It gives people a green light to be vicious and say terrible things without any real accountability. Something we’d like to avoid here, of course.

Completely off base, but I found this Cowley instructional basketball video that is pretty funny. Not bad acting (seriously) on the part of departed Tigers Preston Brown (Sam Houston State), Chris Rhymes (Cal Fullerton) and Montrell McDonald (Arkansas). Especially liked McDonald’s “How to Dunk” clinic at the end. I picked up some valuable tips that I think I’ll have to use next time I see John Harrison at the Y. I think the slow-motion windmill fits my game perfectly.

One other thing … does anybody know what happened to Coffeyville’s Daniel Payne? He signed with Arkansas and was released from his scholarship after it became evident he was going to be ineligible. I know he picked the Hogs over K-State and Wichita State so I’d be interested to see where he ended up.
