Utah State player returned to basketball after surgery

As Wichita State men’s basketball coach Gregg Marshall said on Friday, all parties need to gather information and do a lot of thinking before freshman guard D.J. Bowles decides on his playing future. On Thursday, surgeons implanted an¬†implantable cardioverter defibrillator into Bowles’ chest.

ESPN.com’s Andy Katz writes that Utah State Danny Berger underwent a similar procedure and is playing for the Aggies with no restrictions.

“Basketball is an enormous part of my life,” Berger told Katz. “I’m sure it is to a lot of people too. I want to be that guy that is an example to a lot of people. I want to give them hope.”
