Wichita State will not hold a public selection show on Sunday, which is a common-sense move for a team expected to be seeded No. 10 or No. 11. The team will gather privately to watch the show.
Bracket projections either aren’t changed for WSU or aren’t updated after Thursday’s action. Shocker fans should be rooting for favorites. The danger isn’t the Shockers falling out of the field. The danger is teams passing WSU in seeding, perhaps bumping them into the First Four at Dayton. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has the Shockers barely avoiding the No. 12 line.
With that in mind, it was good for teams such as Arizona State and Baylor to lose. On Friday, root against Iowa, La Salle, Virginia and Mississippi. Root for Kansas to keep Iowa State from adding a major chip to its resume. Root for Alabama to hurt Tennessee’s resume, then hope the Crimson Tide loses in the next round.
ESPN’s Bubble Watch does a good job summarizing the scene. It lists WSU as a lock.
USA Today’s Bubble Watch provides a list of games to watch today.
