Shaq Morris is a 6-foot-8, 262-pound post player named, by his grandmother, for Shaquille O’Neal. He visited Wichita State recently and puts the Shockers on his list of four schools, with Lamar, Oral Roberts and Florida Gulf Coast. He is a senior at Edmond (Okla.) Memorial.
Morris said he might eliminate a school or two from his list on Thursday evening. He wants to sign in November.
“The decision is getting pretty close,” he said. “I’m starting to really think about it every night and sleep on it.”
Morris averaged 13.6 points and 8.0 rebounds for Edmond Santa Fe as a junior.
Shane Cowherd, his coach at Edmond Memorial, said Shocker coaches discovered him during the summer. Coach Gregg Marshall visited practices and like what he saw.
“(WSU) is in a really, really good position,” Cowherd said. “Anybody that goes and visits Wichita State comes back amazed at the level of basketball facilities – it’s second to none, especially among mid-majors.”
