Shockers on ESPN

The MVC announced its ESPN games today. You can see the list here, which the MVC says contains a record 30 men’s basketball telecasts. By my count, that means at least 17 regular-season games are on what old-timers call TV – ESPN2 or ESPNU. It could be more, depending on how tournaments and BracketBusters play out. More on ESPN3, via the Internet on computers, tablets, Xbox, etc. For some that’s as good as TV.

WSU’s appearances on ESPNU or ESPN2:

  • at VCU, Nov. 13 (ESPNU)
  • at Bradley, Jan. 6 (ESPNU)
  • vs. Creighton, Jan. 19 (ESPN2)
  • at UNI, Feb. 2 (ESPN2)
  • at Illinois State, Feb. 17 (ESPNU)

The Shockers also stand a great chance of playing Creighton on a network on March 2, the final day of the regular season.

It is interesting to compare the Valley’s package with the Atlantic 10. When it came out Tuesday, it was hailed as a big step forward for the A-10.

The MVC’s Fox Sports regional schedule will be announced Friday.
