Missouri State at Wichita State

WSU wins 3-2. Fantastic outing by Gardner, who held the Bears to five hits and no runs over seven innings. Elam 3 Ks in the 9th.

WSU up 3-2 heading to the 9th. Shockers leave bases loaded in the 8th.

MSU cuts the lead to 3-2 going to the bottom of the eighth.

Nice job by Gardner to escape after putting runners at 2b and 3b with one out. Two strikeouts keep WSU up 3-0 in the 7th.

Johnson strikes out the side in the 5th, two looking. Still 3-0 WSU.

WSU up 3-0 on Baker’s double in the fourth. Drove in Parker, who singled with one out. Shockers playing it aggressive on the bases, which they should because of their hitting issues.

Indiana State defeats Dallas Baptist 7-5 to win the series.

WSU up 2-0 in the first on Lambert’s sac fly and Coy’s double.

As expected, MSU will start No. 1 starter Pierce Johnson today. He hasn’t pitched since March 30, but it’s a tough task for a slumping team. WSU coach Gene Stephenson moves Erik Harbutz into the leadoff spot for the first time this season. Mikel Mucha is batting second.

This weekend’s series to watch is in Terre Haute, where Indiana State and Dallas Baptist are 1-1 heading into today. The Sycamores might have a chance at an at-large bid and winning a series from Dallas Baptist would help.
