Individual scorers are not in fashion in recent seasons at Wichita State. Coach Gregg Marshall and predecessor Mark Turgeon preached team basketball and lot of passing. So it’s rare to see a Shocker break 20, let alone 30.
Guard Joe Ragland scored 31 points in Sunday’s win over UNLV. He made 8 of 9 three-pointers and didn’t seem to force a shot. Thirty-point nights used to be common. His was the first since Paul Miller scored 30 against Southern Illinois in 2006. It was WSU’s first 31-point game since L.D. Swanson vs. Indiana State in 1996.
