Wichita State at Indiana State, Day After

Here’s a clinic on how to win road games by never giving the home team a real chance. WSU’s four road wins:

At Cleveland State (69-54)

  • Took lead for good: 17:20 remaining in the first half
  • Closest second-half margin: 13 points

At UMKC (73-52)

  • Took lead for good: 14:47 remaining in the first half
  • Closest second-half margin: 13 points

At Missouri State (65-62)

  • Took lead for good: 15:57 remaining in the first half
  • Closest second-half deficit: 1 point

At Indiana State (84-73)

  • Took lead for good: 19:45 remaining in the first half
  • Closest second-half deficit: 5 points.

In those games, WSU trailed once, for two points at UMKC for 1:59. In three of those games, the oppnent never came close to having the ball with a chance to lead in the second half. Against Missouri State, the Bears had possession with the chance to lead one time and failed to do so.

Lets hope UCONN, NC, and GT fall out of the polls next week. I think those teams have earned their way through losses, out of the rankings. Lets hope so anyway. Would make room for more legitimate teams like the Shockers and N.Iowa to get some recognition after putting in lots of hard work. Too bad for Missouri State after being humiliated by the Bulldogs, they won’t be receiving any votes next week. At least this adds more separation to the MVC. And will give WSU a chance to receive some votes, or stomp into the polls in shocking fashion.

Bracketology101 says the MVC is a two-bid league this year and predicts WSU will be that second team.

Just keep winning. The rest will take care of itself.

Thanks. I think the MVC is worthy of two bids. We will see how it happens.
