Lineup updates: Chris O’Brien moves up from No. 7 to No. 5. Josh Rosecrans is the DH for the second straight game and hitting second. Ryan Jones is in the two-hole for the second straight game.
OU 4, WSU 0 (top 3rd) - Shockers are starting on their third pitcher. Dalton Banwart is in for Josh Smith, who took over for Cameron Maldonado. Smith gave up all four runs. Maldonado was fortunate to escape the first. He walked two batters and got one of his outs on what appeared to be a fortunate call. Cody Lassley ends the inning by throwing out Aaron Baker (not a fast runner) with a nonetheless impressive throw from his knees.
Charlie Lowell is pitching for WSU. He should be able to keep WSU in this if he gets any run support. Garrett Richards, who dominated WSU at Eck earlier this season, is coming in for OU.
OU 4, WSU 1 (bottom 5th) - Taylor Brown doubles in Clint McKeever with two outs.
OU 5, WSU 1 (top 6th) - An infield single by J.T. Wise scores a run. Bryant Hernandez walks to start the inning, steals second, moves to third when nobody covers second (I’m assuming it was Will Baez negligent) and scores on Wise’s groundball off Tyler Grimes’ glove.
OU 7, WSU 1 (top 7th) - With Lowell out, OU scores two runs against Chance Sossamon. He walked two batters, hit one and gave up a single.
OU 8, WSU 1 – Final. A game much like most others in this eight-game losing streak. No bats. Pitching can’t do enough to help. Shaky defense.
