Little bit of basketball

Here’s some basketball stuff while dodging volleyballs courtside at Koch Arena:

  • I talked with guard D.J. Cooper for Sunday’s notes. He is scheduled to visit Ohio University (home of Jim Schaus) this weekend. Next weekend, he is scheduled to visit WSU. He said he will choose between those schools and wants to sign in November. He described Koch Arena as a “lovely” place, which is an interesting choice of words. He has been told all about the crowds. He described himself as very interested in WSU.
  • Teams can practice in total for two hours a week until practice starts “for real” on Oct. 17. WSU might do some of that next week. Low numbers (and coaches traveling for recruiting) kept the Shockers in individual drills this week. J.T. Durley (broken foot) is doing individual drills, but isn’t ready for full practice. David Kyles is out for a few days with a sprained ankle. Reggie Britton is battling mono.
  • P.J. Couisnard made it to Hungary (through Houston) and scored 14 points in a scrimmage on his first day on the job.
  • Around 200 season tickets will go on sale at 8:30 a.m. Monday. Some do not require a SASO donation. Chairbacks are $260. Benchbacks are $250.
  • Indiana State guard Harry Marshall is ineligible for at least part of the season. That is one of those things that may mean nothing. Or it may mean everything. With point guard Gabe Moore gone, Marshall is critical to running things for the Sycamores. They are one of those teams (like WSU) with a thin margin of error.
