Shocker fans interested in following Ryan Jones and Dusty Coleman in the Cape Cod League should make Right Field Fog a regular stop on their Internet search. Will (no last name included) does a good job keeping up on the league and his writing style fits the subject.
Coleman (.377 after Saturday with three homers and 13 RBIs in 17 games) is on fire this summer. He turned down a chance to be a backup on Team USA to play for Bourne and it looks like a good decision. His strikeouts (14) still outnumber walks (5), an issue that hurt him in his two seasons at WSU.
Jones is hitting .184 with four homers. He is also plagued by strikeouts (17 in 21 games).
WSU fans might also want to check out Bourne’s pitching stats. Missouri State will likely be the MVC favorite next spring, largely because the Bears return weekend starts Tim Clubb and Buddy Baumann. Club is having a great summer. Baumann continues to struggle with control.
