Stillwater Regional practice day

All four teams are here in sunny Stillwater. The Cowboys are done. WSU has about 20 minutes remaining for BP before it hits the interview sessions. TCU just arrived.

One question has come about Internet streaming. Apparently, OSU may offer it. The NCAA allows it, and requires that it be free. I would check OSU’s Web site. WSU’s Tami Cutler said OU offered the stream in 2006. WSU did not last season.

There are some interesting baseball stories out there to read.

  • Arizona State is starting Matt Newman in the first game of its regional. WSU fans will remember him as the outfielder who started and shut down the Shockers. He is pitching because its Stony Brook, but apparently he’s got a future on the mound.
  • A columnist in California picks WSU to win the Stillwater Regional. He calls the Shockers “Dirtbag cousins,” which is a nice compliment.
  • Creighton blames preseason expectations for hurting their season. I think the Shockers would find that humorous. I buy the Bluejays blaming the loss of pitcher Ben Mancuso. That stung and easily could have been the difference between finishing third and challenging for the title. I can’t imagine the expectations at Creighton are that high as to really influence a season. Creighton coach Ed Servais also expects the format of the MVC Tournament to change.
