Final in OT: WSU 70, Mo State 62
Mekel makes 1 of 2, it’s 68-61. The Shockers won’t give up an easy three, so Laurie drives and is fouled with 11.6 to go. He makes one, 68-62.
MSU wasn’t fouling, but Mekel didn’t run it out. He lobbed into Couisnard for a jam with 1.2 to play. Strange ending.
Thanks for checking in tonight. WSU improves to 2-8 in the Valley with its first conference home win. Read More »

Stuff from the MVC coaches conference call on Tuesday morning:
- MSU, as of around 11 a.m., was still in Springfield. Their pilot called in sick, and the Bears were awaiting a replacement to fly them to Wichita. Coach Barry Hinson assured us his team will make it for the 8 p.m. tip. Read More »
I’m late writing about this one, but maybe some people aren’t aware of the mess former WSU coach Mark Turgeon stirred up with his “I can’t win” comments in the last week or so. This is pretty simple. Mark may be right about coaching in the shadow of Billy Gillispie. Just don’t say it to anyone other than your wife and kids. They understand. The rest of the world does not want to hear it, and Mark probably realized that as soon as the words slipped out. Read More »
WSU is halfway through the MVC schedule after Saturday’s 63-54 loss to Bradley at Koch Arena. WSU is tied for last in the MVC with Evansville and there seems to be no hope for a dramatic turnaround. The injuries, inexperience and other personnel issues make it difficult to evaluate this team and its future. Read More »
Final: Bradley 63, WSU 54
Marshall’s lobbying just got him a foul call. Maniscalco landed while catching a ball and Couisnard didn’t give him a step to land, but Bradley got the foul. But that’ll do it.
Thanks for checking in tonight. We’ll chat Tuesday night before and during the Missouri State game. Read More »

Wichita State senior Matt Braeuer played H.O.R.S.E with assistant coach Earl Grant and graduate assistant Dana Ford after practice on Friday. Grant won two games. Ford won one. What matters is that Braeuer felt well enough to shoot, laugh and move around. Read More »
Final: UNI 65, WSU 58
WSU is now 8-11, 1-7 in the Missouri Valley. Another disappointing performance from a beaten-and-bruised team. Bradley (9-10, 2-5 MVC) is leading Illinois State 55-54 in the second half as I write this, but it’s another bottom-of-the Valley team that is without its best player. WSU had a chance to get better, but it’s looking now like only a miracle will get them into the Valley’s top six.
But this season now is about healing and looking to the future anyway.
UNI has won four straight in Koch, an amazing stat.
For Gary Rima (KABOOM!), Kevin Boyle and everyone here at the Panther Sports Network, good night from Wichita. Thanks for stopping by for the Farm & Fleet Postgame Show.
