I had a wonderful opportunity this week to photograph at the newly reopened Bentley Corner Bar and Grill, home of the Roadkill Cafe. Meeting owners Scott and Janice Griffith and their crew was a blast, but crossing paths with Brianna Simon, who works as a waitress at the cafe, was a most refreshing encounter.
I’ve known Brianna since she was in kindergarten with my daughter Abby when I began working on a documentary project of Halstead’s Class of 2000. I followed them and their classmates for 13 years until graduation. It’s hard to believe next year they will celebrate their 10-year reunion (I hope I’m invited).
Brianna is now married, has an adorable little boy and works at the cafe with her mother-in-law, Susan Simon.
