Wrong train runs into convention scare

Sometimes, the wrong train will take you where you need to be.

So it turned out for me on Sunday when a missed connection on Denver’s light-rail system left me as the lone news reporter at a Democratic National Convention bomb scare.

The light rail is the best way to get around Downtown Denver right now, because of the numerous streets shut down for the convention. But it can be a bit confusing for the uninitiated.

Long story short, I wound up on a northbound train when I wanted southbound and ended up riding to the end of the line. I figured I’d just stay on the train until it turned around and came back.

Not now, Hillary, I’m trying to sleep

Hillary Clinton woke me up at 6 a.m. this morning.

No, she’s not sharing my room at the Motel 6 (wouldn’t that be a story).

But she — or at least her once and possibly future campaign — did send me a text message, and my cell phone — which does double duty as my alarm clock when I’m on the road — jolted me out of a sound sleep.

The message was “this is confirmation that you have opted out of Hillary Clinton account.” Read More »

Abortion protesters harangue media in Denver for convention

The Democratic National Convention hasn’t started yet, but the abortion protests have.

Attendees at a welcoming party for members of the national and international media were greeted by demonstrators using bullhorns and waving  banners with graphic photographs of aborted fetuses.

Operation Rescue director Randall Terry and others implored the reporters to “tell the truth,” as they filed past on their way to the party at the Six Flags Elitch Gardens amusement park. Terry and supporters also leafleted the reporters’ cars with brochures protesting high abortion percentages among African-Americans. Read More »
