Will you still Go ‘Nuts?

This isn’t something a beat write should ever admit, but I’m starting to forget about the Wingnuts a little bit. I’m starting to wonder if they’re actually coming back for a six-game season-ending homestand this Sunday or if that is just a figment of my imagination and the season actually ended when they started this 13-game road trip.

The National Baseball Congress World Series affects professional baseball in Wichita every year. It kept fans away from Wranglers games at the end of August because the town was apparently “baseballed out.”

It might damage attendance even further this season. The Wingnuts will return home for a final homestand. And even though they’re saying all the right things about trying to fight for a playoff spot, it’s just not happening. Too many teams to catch, too little time and no sign thusfar that the team even has a prolonged winning streak in it.

Now, I’m not trying to drive people away from the last six games of the Wingnuts’ first season. But how many of you are looking forward to watching a team come home just to play out the string? Have you forgotten about the Wingnuts too? Or will the city of Wichita send the Wingnuts’ inaugural season out with a bang, averaging 3,000 fans? Personally, I’m hoping for the latter. Well-attended baseball is just more fun.

We have a baseball team???? Went to two games this year and it was baseball. Nothing get excited about. Not really even great baseball. I guess I miss seeing players that I knew would make it to the Big League. But until Wichita tears down LDS and builds something new like Springdale did, we are stuck with what we have. I wish the ‘Nuts the best…….

Always being in last place and losing never helps building a loyal fan base.

You once asked me why I disliked the Wichita Sports Authority so much.

Well,Jeff it isn’t hard to find the answer.
All one has to do is listen to the fans that pay hard earned money year after year, only to get last place teams and no playoff teams.

Check out the Thunder Forum for plenty of fan comments, does it not remind you of the nuts?

    Last place and No Playoffs.

Last year the Thunder were second in the entire CHL in attendance revenue.

The outcome was the worst season ever.

Until this staff takes winning as serious as it is with it’s own payroll and revenue then we will always be last in my book.

These fans you ask about above are the same fans that look to the Wichita Sports Staff for competitive sports teams in both summer and winter, which I might add havent had for years now.

Is it bad to want something back for all that a fan can give?

Yeah, I’ve had enough ES. I’m suspecting you’re the only one in this great city of ICT that reads up on the local sports page via free online news thanks to the Wichita Eagle too express your opinion about our local teams with their success or lack of. Why don’t you take a deep dive into your wallet and attend a game and try showing your true support for the ICT economy and help provide some ownership for our local teams. I have no problem with persons expressing their discuss with a first season team as long as you’ve attended a number of games and expressed to management what you’d like too see next year in order to make it more of a success (or in the case of the Thunder, give them an opportunity to rebuild). They will listen to your voice because a 15 year contract has been signed and loyal fan base and positive word of mouth is stronger than your weak and unfounded comments. Without looking into any sports page can you give me details about how many innings are played in a game of baseball or how many periods are played on the ice of hockey???? I doubt it!! These players (avg.) are playing for a minimum 1/8 your salary (I’m assuming and I bet I’m well off that mark), and doing what they love too do. Imagine living in your secure little cube farm for only $5000 a year only to write a negative post daily about the Nuts or the Thunder! How many days could you survive? How about this proposition: I will donate too you 2 tickets for the final 2 games of the Nuts games for up to 4 persons in your group… If you don’t have a good time then state to ICT that you just wasted 6-7 hours of your life. If you do have a good time help out our local ownership and promote. Inform the locals that read this blog and your comments that you had a good time whether the Nuts win or loose. What do you have to loose? I’m not calling you out in a negative way (such as Jeff thought in St.Paul). I would like for you to attend a game and meet a blend of people that come to help support our city and for a very small price. I don’t know of too many places within this town that a person can have 3 hours of entertainment (without drama) for less than $6 on a Friday or Saturday night.

I could quote many others who feel the same but why bother. As for the free tickets thanks but no thanks.I have yet to step foot in LD since our real team left, which many I might add now play in the majors.

The Nuts will finish as the Thunder finish each year and the fans will have once again shown tons of support/revenue.

Some people feel they get their money’s worth, and with the Thunder or Nuts I feel they havent even came close.

Ask anyone about the great prize bags this staff gave out after they endured not only 56 hours of baseball Contest but heavy rains, delays,no concessions, etc.

In it was a NBC shirt and a bunch of vendor trinkets that one could find on any state fair grounds floor.

You just see things differently and I respect that.

Just don’t expect all of us others who don’t,to waste our time or money on amateurish teams and a even more amateur staff.
