OK, so I just downloaded “Country Man” and “Lean Like a Cholo.”
Actually, first things first. I had Del Rosario’s song, “Fuego” at No. 2. But that’s out the window. He’s dropping to number three. That’s official.
So the first song I listened to was “Country Man.” And I was like, OK, that HAS to be No. 1. Maybe the most catchy song ever. But in the interest of equal time for both candidates, I downloaded Dustan Mohr’s song, “Lean Like a Cholo,” too.
Honestly, I can’t pick. They’re both ridiculously good. So I think I need the help of my six or so loyal blog readers. I know the actual Nuthouse reads this blog regularly, so help me out. Which is it — “Country Man” or “Lean Like a Cholo?” Those are your only two choices. And if anyone can let me know what a Cholo is, that would be great.
I guess I should mix in some actual baseball talk, even though the Wingnuts are enjoying their second of three days off in a row and aren’t making a lot of news.
Actually, you can look for a couple moves to be made. The club is bringing back Doug Hurn, who provided some strong innings as a reliever before being traded to another league. But that team is either out of contention or the season is over, so they’re trading or selling Hurn back to the Wingnuts.
Also, Wichita is probably bringing in another pitcher, David Robles, who was drafted in the 7th round in 2003 by the Rockies and has had a lot of injury issues. David Cross has left the team to pursue other employment opportunities and another release will be made. Since it’s not official yet, I can’t let you know. Because I know you’re all clamoring for it.
The Wingnuts enter play on Saturday in last place in the American Association North Division, 4 1/2 games behind Sioux City and Lincoln with opportunity to make up ground on Lincoln in a three-game series that starts on Monday. It’s all division opponents for the Wingnuts from here on out, so whoever wins the North will definitely have earned it.

The nicest way to say what a cholo is, is that it is a person of mixed ethnic background. A word some of you might have learned in school is “mestizo.”
Per your request Jeff… I’m going with “Country Man”. There are too many good lines within this song that make for a good introduction, also this song is easy to follow and listen to. As a matter of fact, I knocked the dust off of my old Bangora last night. I’ll be wearing it for the final home stand. As far as “Lean like a Cholo”… It has a catchy beat and; well… that’s about it.
Porterdog, your pick is definitely not a surprise since you were calling for country music to be played throughout our trek to and from St. Paul. Still, since you’re the only Nuthouse member so far to weigh in on this topic, I have to respect your opinion. And actually, there is no bad choice here. But I don’t know how “Lean Like a Cholo” can be dismissed with your “that’s about it” line. That song somehow gets better every time I hear it, while “Country Man” I think will eventually have diminishing returns.
