The last time Kansas State traveled to Texas Tech’s United Spirit Arena for a basketball game, the Wildcats smashed the Red Raiders 83-64.
The blowout victory came in front of a small crowd and happened near the end of a seven-game winning streak in 2010. As far as memorable games go, it barely registers.
But Martavious Irving has a pretty good story to tell about that evening in Lubbock, Texas.
“I remember that we beat them by a lot,” he said. “I also remember that was the game that (Curtis Kelly’s) shoe broke. His shoe ripped in the middle of the game. He came back to the bench with a ripped shoe, and Victor (Ojeleye) took his shoes off and gave them to him in the middle of the game.”
