He’s leaving Oregon. That much is official – the folks at the Eugene Register-Guard came up with that nugget earlier today, and you can read it here.
What now? He’s mulling his options. He told me tonight that he is taking a couple of weeks to think things over, and he’ll be back in Wichita June 8. Expect something concrete from him then, if not before. But he seemed at peace with everything, eager to start looking ahead.
More as this develops…

good work jmart
Ya good work, you did your best to help him make the decision to leave Oregon.
LOL at Oregon fans. They hate you so bad Jeff.
We love you Chis! You will look great in purple!
He could be a Kansas hero in a few years.
I heard Brodrick Smith has already started the process of enrolling at K-State.
Harper is the perfect QB for Snyder’s system. You hear me, Cris? PERFECT!
OK, so it’s June 8 and still no update.
I’m in agreement with SunTzu, it’s June 8th. What’s the word JMart?

As Chris Harper sits outside of an Oregon University classroom, preparing to start the process of taking finals, he deals with an uncertain football future. For now, there isn’t much time to mull over his options. Five days remain in his time as a Duck. After that, however, things get dicey, and though he says he has yet to decide what his next college destination will be, at least one thing is starting to fall into place….
“Bad effort by me with this here blog lately, but that should be fixed in the coming days.” Source: JMart May 26, 2009. # of posts from that post until July 4, 2009 = 1, later that same day. Just how is this getting fixed, JMart? You used to do a fantastic job getting us insights into recruiting, scuttlebutt and other goings on. Now, an occasional article (mandatory 1 per week I would guess) and no other info. Alas, you work for the Star has turned you into another Star reporter awaiting something to fall into his lap while scrambling to pull together your one required article by deadline. Sure miss the old JMart!
