Student tickets for OU available

From the Kansas State sports information department:

Approximately 500 tickets unclaimed from the student allotment will be released Friday morning to the public for Kansas State’s men’s basketball game against No. 6 Oklahoma on Saturday.

Tickets are priced at $20 each and will go on sale beginning at 9 a.m., Friday at the Athletics Ticket Office in Bramlage Coliseum.  Orders will also be accepted by phone at 1-800-221-CATS or locally 532-7606.  The tickets are for general admission seating in Sections 21-25 of the arena.

All other tickets for the game have been sold.  Tipoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

As a reminder, tickets still remain for the women’s Big 12 opener against arch-rival Kansas, which is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday.  There is a Wildcat Weekend game-day special, which permits the purchase of a general admission ticket for $3 with proof of a men’s basketball ticket.  Advance tickets are available for chairback seats priced at $12, reserved bench at $9 and general admission at $8.

Bryce Brown update

Looks like Saturday at Kansas State just got a little more interesting.

It’s the Big 12 opener against No. 6 Oklahoma for the men’s basketball team, and there will be a notable visitor in attendance at Bramlage Coliseum — East running back Bryce Brown.

Brown, who was recently named the U.S. Army Player of the Year and earned co-MVP honors in the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, will take an unofficial visit to Manhattan and meet with members of the K-State coaching staff, according to his adviser, Brian Butler.

Brown, who will be joined by father and Butler, has orally committed to Miami, but said last week in San Antonio that he was down to the Hurricanes and Oregon.

Now, Butler says a “few more schools” are involved, including K-State.

“It’s all business,” Butler said. “Things change. Why not take a look around? He’s the No. 1 player in the country. There’s no rush… Look at Terrelle Pryor last year with Ohio State.”

Asked if that meant Brown might not sign a letter of intent on Feb. 4 and take his time with a decision, Butler said, “That’s a possibility.”
