Here we go again…

Happy New Year, all.

The goal this year, in addition to providing nuggets of news and the like, is to offer more analysis and opinion. Now, there is a chance I might offend some of you, but you’re always welcome to type your displeasure down below.

I brainstormed during my extensive holiday break – Vermont was fine, thanks – and solicited the advice of a Kansas State fan or two I respect very much. The result is a slew of new features that may or may not stick, and we’ll be rolling those out in the coming days/weeks.

Until then, some quick thoughts followed by a few links will have to do:

- My buddy Les insists Colt McCoy’s girlfriend, identified by The Big Lead as Rachel Glandorf, is the hottest woman he’s ever seen. I have no further comment.

- The Big 12 was never as good as any of us thought, but that’s OK. The SEC isn’t the monster it’s always made out to be, and the Pac-10, even by virtue of its 5-0 record in bowl games, is a sham, too. Don’t even bother discussing the Big Ten, and the Big East and the ACC should merge.

- I’ve yet to watch an entire bowl game this year. That might change Thursday night, but somehow, I doubt it.

- The K-State men will win 20-plus games. And yes, I’m predicting a victory Saturday against Oklahoma. Quick rant – how are people not supporting this team? This is the start of something big. If it was me, I’d like to be on the ground floor of when it happens. But hey, Saturday is going to be a sell-out. Perfect.

- I’d never seen Shalee Lehning play before Saturday, but she’s the real deal.

- This one-sentence e-mail arrived shortly after 9:15 p.m. Monday in my in-box: Vote Utah #1

Now, if I only had a vote.

Ron Prince to Miami or Notre Dame? That’s the word according to Rivals.com’s Tom Dienhart. Actually, Dienhart says Prince will be a hot commodity, and both of those schools are in the market for offensive coordinators. If the former K-State coach landed in Miami, I’d be curious to see if East running back Bryce Brown honors his commitment to the Hurricanes.

- Could you imagine if Raheem Morris was hired by the Denver Broncos? Think Prince would be calling him looking for work? That’d be an interesting dynamic.

Bill’s the man, plus a funky chart. Jeff Meisel e-mailed me this morning, asking if I’d link to his opus on the legendary K-State football coach. Consider it done, Jeff. Let this be a lesson to you all – I’m easy.

It’s encouraging to hear someone say that the men’s basketball team will win 20+ games this year. I’ve been saying that since last year, and people look at me like I’m on drugs. How can you not like a team made up of Pullen, Sutton, Brown, Samuels, and Kent? That doesn’t account for the deeper bench Coach Martin has been cultivating in the cupcake pre-conference games. My bet with a KU friend is that the ‘Cats win more games than last year, and that means they have to win 21 in regular season play. It’s a stretch–can the ‘Cats win 10 conference games? We’ll see.

Nice to have you back, J-Mart.

You completely stole that Bryce Brown angle from me, didn’t you? That’s totally cool if you did.

Well worth wait JMart, nice work. Any guesses on why Prince is just a hot commodity right? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised after Chizik wound up at Auburn.

What’s your dad’s thoughts on the Bball team this year? Me, I think I am just tempering expectations after being burned by football. A win against OU would be big.

It is sad how empty the Bram has been.

20 wins? Don’t go out on a limb there Jeff, that’s only 8-8 in the Big XII which shouldn’t be all that difficult for this group in a very average conference.

Man up and pick the ‘Cats Big XII record. ;)

When J-Mart stops being polite and starts getting real.

    I like it!

Thanks for all of the love. Much appreciated. I’m going to start trying to answer most of the questions asked here with a comment of my own. So, pghzac, I think Prince is in demand because he has a pretty good offensive mind. And, because he has something to prove after being fired, he’ll probably be terrific. My dad has only being reading my stuff, so he’s probably woefully uninformed about the Cats. :) But my parents are coming out for the KU game Feb. 14, which is going to be their first time in the OOD. Think they’re going to be impressed? AzCat, I like the Cats to go either 9-7 or 10-6. Hope that helps, and keep it coming.

Nice blog, keep the information coming. I think the Cats go 10-6 in the league and finish fourth. Also keep an eye on Shalee she is going to do some special things this year and everyone should watch her play at least once, last saturday was my first time in person as well.
