i think you missed the mark a little bit- K-State needs sexy moreso than other places, why? because sex sells, and we need more of a sell job to lure recruits to K-State then somewhere like OU. a lot of people can X’s and O’s, few can recruit the studs that K-State needs to compete. sexyness = recruiting ability.

So you think Patterson would rather coach at Tenn than his alma mater?

WOW! That would be a slap in the face.

On balance, I’m thinking that if Snyder wants it, he might be the best choice for the simple reason that he would bring stability immediately, even in the face of a new president coming in and Krause probably not being the Athletic Director for the long term.
I am interested in why you think a guy who NEVER won at Iowa State, and fielded some horrible teams, should even be considered. It seems obvious that McCarney can’t recruit and he couldn’t win with the kids he coached. He should be ruled out.
The other posssible choices listed on GoWildcat.com are all very interesting, and attractive,in my view.

If we take Franchionie or McCarney I may have to rip up my diploma and stop letting people know I went to K-State. Or at least stop following the football program. Those two have experience and watching that experince tells me they are not right for the job. I would take a good DC to come in and try to start over rather than those two. But Gary Patterson would be great if he would come.

I don’t agree that McCarney isn’t a good coach. He was a good coach in a HORRIBLE place. Look at Guy Morris @ Baylor. Did well at Kentucky, had no chance to compete in the Big XII at Baylor.

I’m not saying Dan McCarney is the answer, but am NOT hearing him get ran down. Same with Larry Smith at Mizzu. He built things up from CRAP, and paved a path for Pinkle to be successful.

Snyder would be your answer for the short term, as in this year, but not for next year or beyond. Once again, darned good coaches aren’t going to want to come in and replace a legend. RP was the necessary buffer, now move on to someone legit. Why keep RP around for the year? STUPIDEST MOVE they could make. God forbid he wins 2 games and get bowl eligible…

Excellant point re: Prince as the buffer. Also, I could not agree more, that Ron Prince should have been sent along immediately and not kept for the remaining part of the season. Snyder could have been brought in for the interim, perhaps or the most senior of the subordinates could have been allowed to finish out.

Why is everyone assuming Snyder wants to come in and fix this. If I was him I would want nothing to do with this season maybe next year. But what’s done is done, we should have waited till the end of the year to fire Prince but like I said what’s done is done.

Snyder has made it known he wants to coach again. Not an assumption.
