Nick Russell will be a Wildcat

Russell, the 6-foot-4 point guard from Arlington Grace Prep, committed to Kansas State today, becoming the fourth member of the Class of 2009.

Noting who was already in the fold – Russell, a point guard, Rodney McGruder, a shooting guard, Wally Judge, a power forward, and Jordan Henriquez, a center – I said it appeared as if K-State was trying to bring an entire unit, minus a small forward. Could that be the next or last piece?

“I don’t know,” Russell said.

Well, it was a theory anyway. But don’t be surprised if there is activity during the late signing period.

EMAW! This really is a big pickup to me. A Rivals 150 with no DC/Hill ties. Big deal imo.

To take a SF you’d almost have to release someone (not that that is a huge problem, but you would have to handle that carefully since you really can’t boot people mid-year. Also, with Boyd, you have qualification issues that would make booting someone for a possibility of a mid-year player maybe coming a less attractive thing. There is a good chance that this is the class.

I’m really excited about this staff’s ability to recruit. Looks to be a really solid class, whether it’s done or not.
