Good for Mastrud

From the Kansas State sports information department:

Kansas State junior tight end Jeron Mastrud is one of 71 nominees for the 17th-annual Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works team, Allstate Insurance Company and the AFCA have announced.

Mastrud, who started nine games as a sophomore, is one of 45 players from the Football Bowl Subdivision (Division I-A) and one of just eight players from the Big 12 Conference to be nominated for the team.

Mastrud has been an active part in the community since his arrival as a freshman in 2006. The Beaverton, Ore., native has been a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and has volunteered his time in various community service programs such as Read and Achieve, Walkin’ With a Wildcat Mentoring Program, the Special Olympics Sports Clinic and Adopt an Angel.

On the field, Mastrud has played in 24 career games for the Wildcats, including 17 earning career starts. After a 17-reception, 235-yard effort as a freshman, his production increased during his sophomore season as he recorded 30 grabs for 316 yards.
