Ron Prince was right… again

So I’ve gotten a lot of mileage out of the fact that the Kansas State football coach told a captive Scott City Catbackers audience that his junior quarterback, Josh Freeman, is regarded by NFL personnel types as a possible No. 1 choice in the NFL Draft – whenever he chooses to come out.

I found it ludicrous, telling Prince as much afterwards. His response? That’s what he was told, based on Freeman’s size, arm strength and his sophomore season production.

Still, I didn’t believe. Until today.

Through an indirect, three-way conversation with a source and a representative from an established and powerful agency – trust me, you know several of its clients – I was told that if Freeman has “a mediocre” season, he’ll be the No. 1 pick.

In next year’s NFL Draft.

Looks like I was wrong to doubt Mr. Prince in this instance. And yes, I can admit when I was wrong.

Wow. I was a little skeptic too Jeff. Crazy stuff.

I’m still skeptic. I bet your middle man is Josh Freeman’s dad.

Believe it or not, I’ve never spoken with Ron Freeman.

If he has a mediocre season or if we have a mediocre season. Do we have to go bowling?

J-Mart please accept my long over-due apologies. I blasted you a long time back for your writing. I also can admit when I am wrong. Your writing is very professional and entertaining. My main criticism was for the lack thereof, and I do still wish for more, but you’d have to write a LOT to satiate the wish for more. Thanks for what you do.

I’m calling BS. There is no way after a mediocre season at KSU is a pro team going to think about taking Freeman above a proven quarterback (Matthew Stafford anyone?).

IMO Freeman is a solid 2nd round pick….That’s it. He may even be a solid backup QB for several years in the NFL.
