Frank on Dave Hoskins

Per the K-State sports information office:

“After spending countless hours studying David’s situation, everyone involved agreed that the surest thing for him is to begin his professional career. It saddens me that David’s career at K-State ended this way.  However, I’m extremely excited for his future and grateful for everything that he has done for our program.”

My dad was bummed I didn’t tell Dave when I spoke with him for this story that my dad was bummed Dave couldn’t play this year.

    J-Mart,
Why is the surest thing for Dave to begin his professional career? By ‘professional career’ – is Frank suggesting that Dave is moving on to life after basketball, or to professional basketball?

If he’s saying professional basketball, wouldn’t it make sense to show that Dave’s knee is healthy and he can contribute before moving on?

If it’s an NCAA issue, why not just say that?

I think the issue is how many more miles Dave can put on his knee before it won’t let him play anymore. Might as well try to make some money while you can.

Dave is one of my all-time favorite Cats and I’ll always think about what might have been had he been healthy. I wish him well.

Jeff, are you out looking for a new job? Well if not, I have one for you: How about some info on the following:
-the state of the KSU FB Program
-Wouldn’t mind seeing some comments from in-state FB coaches with regard to their thoughts on Prince. Did the whole Burris debacle really hurt him that bad? KU is cleaning house (not that really means a lot in KS), but we still need to be getting some of these top guys. Everyone will point to all the KS guys on our roster and how well they do, but let’s face it, we’ve sucked and there’s a reason for that (the guys that are our best players were not top flight recruits!).
-What are you early prognostications on who the biggest impact players will be this fall? Will the impact players returning still be impact players with the influx of newcomers? My thoughts on the subject would be the more returnees riding pine could be a good thing.
-Thoughts on the “no-huddle” offense being implemented?
-How do you see the Big 12 evolving over the next few years… Hawkins will prob get CU better. NU? Can the fat man keep the momentum going? MU looks to be the team that has the ability to possibly make a run for a few years..
    -Cmon J-Mart, GET TO WORK!

    J-Mart:

The NBA Draft happened last night. It was pretty cool – it even included 2 K-State players! You should look into that!

(Just givin’ you a hard time…your blog is great and I want more of the insight that I only get here! It’s been almost 3 weeks!)
