O.J. and the Trojans

That’s who K-State is going to be playing Thursday in Omaha. Southern California is the No. 11 seed. I saw USC in Los Angeles against Kansas in December, and that’s an athletic team. Real bouncy up front. O.J., of course, is going to be an interesting cover. Dominique Sutton? Andre Gilbert? Not sure who they’ll slap on him.

Wonder if this will bring out the best or worst in Bill… Thoughts?

This is a made for TV matchup. Do such things occur on purpose? I think it is great drama and the Cats should be thankful for the “home game”. Floyd could be the difference.

Can’t get a whole lot worse from Bill, can it? Being in Omaha is a bonus. Rather have that than a 8/9 seed on the East coast.

One more thing, for us to have a chance the minutes for Sutton+Pullen must be greater than those for Stew+Gilbert.

This is a good for a home court advantage. K-State fans need to get up there and give the 6th man advantage to KSU. Will KU fans will also route for KSU?

Walker on the opposite side of the ball from Mayo…interesting. Hope “SkyWalker” shows up and not the defense-less player of late. We will need to have an offense outside of Beasley. I also hope that Pullen gets to play more minutes to build his confidence… We will need to have a good game against SC to beat them.

Two years in a row that USC knocks out the Big 12 player of the year? USC by double digits.

i like this a lot better than an 8 or 9 seed. i think we can definitely play with usc. depending on which kstate team shows, of course.

who has an extra? i’m working on every contact i can think of for tix…

Keep in mind how Bill played, while his buddy was in town, against Xavier.

I am sensing a strong showing from Bill. No more Big 12 games for a while. Here is to the game coming back to the cats.

    Sutton and Pullen need minutes.
    Beasley will get his.
Will Stew play like a senior?

    Cats 72
    USC 68

    catzacker is prolly right on….

also there is no doubt in my mind that this was a made for tv matchup.

    How else can you explain…
    1. KSU getting an 11 seed and zona getting a 10.
    2. Us playing in the same bracket as KU.
    3. Us getting a game as close to home as possible.
    4. Beasley vs. Mayo in possibly the most exciting freshman matchup of the year.

The only thing that sux is that tickets are outrageously high in Omaha.

Should make for a very interesting first round match-up, one I think K-State will come out on the positive end. The Cats, however have zero chance against Wisconsin.

I think we need to play a match up zone against USC and keep Mayo from doing his thing which is driving and dishing off or taking a short range jumper. I have watched Mayo three or four times on TV and he is a very streaky shooter and gets frustrated easy if his shot is not falling. He reminds me a lot of Walker.

Jeff, remember when you said the Omaha Katpak’r would probably never happen…LOL at you now bro, lol at you now. I can get you into all the hippest night spots since I’m a towny. We’re talking pretty much the next available table at Buffalo Wild Wings.

Finally, things go right with the Cats on Selection Sunday. The location is nice, the draw is reasonable, and hopefully SC and Mayo will get certain players focused on the task at hand. And I have to disagree with JB, I think Wisconsin is the weakest of the top 12 teams in the tourney. If we get by the Trojans, I think the momentum and the crowd could push us into the Sweet 16.

Granted, that’s a lot to ask , but we can finally dream, can’t we?

I too think Wisconsin would be a great draw for the Cats, however SC’s athleticism will be tough to match. Couldn’t agree more with r. mexico…hope to see a lot of Jake and Nique.

Don’t know how this team will win. Not they aren’t capable, we all know they are. I just can’t see them winning right now considering the mental state they seem to be in. Its too bad they can’t go back to their january playing because this is a weak bracket.

Jeff, which assistant did the scouting/game prep for USC last season?

The USC film would be great for Walker to dust off and watch; maybe then he’ll realize how he needs to play and get his shots.

…which is to say that he sucked from outside and was better when he drove/went inside and got his points. And that basically describes him this year as well, save for a handful of games.
