I don't necessarily think were looking at a defensive struggle, but I think defense will be key. It should be one of those games where you should be able to say USC simply won't be able to score enough points to stay in it with K-State, but because the excellent defensive play we saw from K-State early in 2008 has vanished, I think we better hope for a high scoring affair and make USC try to keep up. If it turns in to a game in the 50's or low 60's, we'd be playing right in to their game and we're doomed. If we can get our average points, somewhere in the mid 70's, I think it's ours. Of course that means more than 3 field goals from players not named Beasley.

rebounding is the key. They don't shoot all that well. can't give the extra chances. I like sutton with a bunch of minutes to give us a rebounding edge.

USC will play a box and one on MB the entire game. It will force the rest of our team to bring their "A" game. If they do, watch out - sky's the limit! If they don't, is there a sub-basement at the Qwest Center?

Sutton made one mistake on offense and then rode the pine the rest of the game. Meanwhile, we're running set 3 point plays for Walker, a guy who couldn't hit the broad side of the Sprint Center from anthing outside of 12ft. Another game full of brilliant coaching moves by Frank and terrible shooting by his team.

Hey -

What do you make of Sutton playing a ton at Iowa State and then all but disappearing against A&M?

I think USC is bouncy and long in the frontcourt. I covered the USC-KU game in the Galen Center in Dec. and I thought Jefferson was outstanding. O.J. was OK, but you know he's going to get his numbers. I think the key is, you want to make him work on the other end as well, but I don't see any of K-State's guards doing that - with the exception of Jake, and who knows how much he'll play. Earlier in the season, O.J. was playing too many minutes. He's a talent, no doubt, but I think Blake will be O.K. Personally, I think it's going to be a defensive struggle. Have to crash the glass Thursday, for sure.

I didn't think too many of Augustin's shots were that spectacular. He had a some layups, some tear drops, some runners...not anything out of the ordinary. It won't matter anyways. KSU is an average, at best, team and has been that way for over a month.
