Interesting to hear how much the Cyclones respect K-State. Greg McDermott talked a year ago about how much more physical the Wildcats were than his team, and he stayed on message again Saturday. I’m writing something for tomorrow about what Iowa State thinks of KU and K-State after facing both this past week.
It’s a rare instance, especially in sports, when something or someone exceeds the hype, in a weird way actually justifying the buzz. This is what Mike Beasley has become. He’s the best I’ve ever seen.
I’m planning on writing this when K-State plays Texas – Darren Kent could emerge as a Connor Atchley-type for the Cats. You know, a big that can shoot it well and draws out an opposing big, freeing things up for Beasley and Bill Walker to operate in the paint. His development has been huge. His confidence is soaring. It’s been fun to watch.
This is a good team, a very good team. You have to be impressed, don’t you? K-State is undefeated in 2008, by the way.
Can’t wait until Wednesday. I haven’t been this excited about a game in a long time, and I have absolutely nothing invested, from a personal standpoint. Not giving too much away here, but I think Beasley goes nuts against the Jayhawks. Walker, too.
But will that be enough?

beas will struggle against Jackson Kaun and Arthur triple teams, I just hope the other guys show.
The guard matchups are what concern me the most.I believe MB and BW will have good games, but if KU hits half their 3’s, its going to awfully hard for KSU to win.
Will,
Change your name.
Thanks,
JMart, you’ve proven to be a near prophet the last two weeks. I hope it continues on Thursday.
oops, wednesday
Key to the game is Kent/Colon being able to hold their own in the paint when Walker/Beasley aren’t on the floor. Guards being about to overcome KU’s annual perimeter hackfest will be a big deal too. I think Clent, Jake and Blake are up for the challenge.
i hope the players aren’t so jacked-up that they fall behind by 15 in the first 8 minutes.
i hope the refs “let them play”. b-easy and skywalker don’t need foul trouble.
i hope colon doesn’t see the court on wed.
i hope beasley and walker eliminate their 3-6 lazy passes a game. ku will convert those to points.
i hope kstate can beat their zone (it’ll come).
i hope beasley can beat double and triple teams.
i hope kstate doesn’t shoot 20-30 treys; previous teams (mu & isu) have gotten destroyed when this has happened.
i hope walker is the X factor, burying threes and posting up.
i hope the cats’ guards don’t overplay when they man-up. back doors and alley-oops will spell doom.
i hope kstate shows them the jack hartman memorial 3-2 zone from time to time.
i hope kaun cries.
i hope the bram is the best 6th man come wednesday night.
i hope the squawks go home with a loss, leaving kstate along in first.
i hope i’m right…
with all the ku buzz, now is the perfect time for a blitz of recruiting blog entries. imo.
i just hope we win!
The Cats can not get off to a slow start against KU. They must match KU intensity, alot of teams struggle with that and before you know it you’re down by 10-15 points, game over.
Missouri had every opportunity to beat KU at home, KU was in foul trouble, Rush’s game was off due to the physical nature of play, but MU refused to go inside when they needed to, instead they jacked up countless 3 pointers up, and KU escaped with a 6 point win.
KU will be tough, when they play their best their are few if any teams in the country that can beat them. We have to get some of their bigs in foul trouble, and make some 3’s. It will be tough, but not out of the question.
If the Hawks can be rattled, it will be in Bramlage on Wednesday night. That place should be… will be insane. If there is anything that KU hasn’t faced, it’s insane intensity against a really solid team.
I’m so freakin’ nervous, yet ridiculously excited.
KSU is easily the best team KU will face in a true road game this season. They might be undefeated but they haven’t exactly blown away good competition away from their place. The ‘Cats win a laugher Wednesday.
Fortunately, ESPN is televising Virginia/Maryland instead of this snoozefest. ESPN2? Our old friend Bob Huggins vs. Cinci. We must be cursed. I’ll be getting the game anyway, but man…how could ESPN pass this one up? Michael Beasley has to slay a dragon before he’s front-page news, apparently. Too bad.
I agree with sys. The hoops recruiting entries would catch everyone completely off guard and raise your hype to unseen levels. Should also be noted that I have given Kent the green light to make it rain whenever the h3ll he feels like it.
“I have absolutely nothing invested from a personal standpoint.” Is that a joke?
I live in Denver. Does anybody reading this board know where I can go to see the game? Will it be on the normal DirectTV package? Any assistance is appreciated.
J-Gro, you either have to pay for ESPN fullcourt coverage(which is the route i had to take, being from pittsburgh) or if your internet provider carries ESPN360 you can watch it there.
Why would that be a joke?
So if I find I bar that carries the full-court package, then I’m good to go?
“I have absolutely nothing invested from a personal standpoint.” Is that a joke?
more of a slap in the face to every loyal ksu bball loving reader, if you ask me.
