Kansas Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little is currently in discussions with her staff about whether to waive KU’s legal rights regarding Texas A&M’s potential move to the SEC, according to KU associate athletic director Jim Marchiony.
An Iowa State spokesman told the Des Moines Register on Wednesday that Iowa State officials are retaining their legal rights. Earlier in the day, numerous sources reported that Baylor was considering a lawsuit.
When the SEC voted to add A&M to the conference conditionally on Tuesday night, the condition was that the Aggies would be free to do so.
“The SEC has stated that to consider an institution for membership, there must be no contractual hindrances to its departure,” Florida president and SEC chairman Bernie Machen said in a statement.
Marchiony said he was not sure when Gray-Little would come to a decision.
