David vs. Goliath

Adam Lambert and Kris Allen will face off next week – the eighth season of American Idol. Early on, Adam Lambert showed his fierce vocal strength and originality resulting in legions of fans; no one is surprised that he is the giant daring someone to slay him. Kris Allen started in the middle of the pack but he steadily gave creative and solid performances earning a place in the finals and winning one of the biggest underdog victories in American Idol history.

Ryan announced at the beginning of the show that 88 million votes were cast and only 1 million separated Adam and Kris! I still believe that Adam is the favorite to win but this could be a bit polarizing. Those he hasn’t won over will probably support Kris. If Kris comes out and gives amazing performances next week he just might be able to pull off an upset.

Danny gave a good fight and in his own words his Idol experience has been “tragedy to triumph.” Ten months ago, Danny had just lost his wife and today he is the Top 3 Idol this season. I’ve been a fan of Danny since the beginning, and I am looking forward to what I’ll see from him in the future.

My Idol, Jordin Sparks, introduced her new single, “Battlefield,” from her newest album. Since we are now Sony labelmates, I thought this was a perfect place for a shameless promo plug – be on the watch out for my new single, “You’re Not Shaken,” on Christian radio within the next couple of weeks. It’s from my new record, “Into the Light,” due out Aug. 25.

Were you all surprised that Kris made it in? Will Kris find a kink in Adam’s armor or will Adam prevail?

Personally I think Danny’s voters will move to Kris next week. It should be a really fun show.

I for one will be voting for Kris. Adam may be talented, but his singing wears me out.

I’m an Adam fan and regardless of AI’s outcome next week, Adam is set to be a star.

A pleasant surprise for me that Kris made it to the finals. I’m not sure if Danny’s fans will gravitate to Kris or not. Going by their tone today on the AI Boards, they saw this upset coming and their was a lot of bad mouthing of Kris.

I hope Adam and Kris both have their best performances next week. Kris has shown he can deliver under some pressure and Adam can be great so, as Simon says…it ought to be a *Ding-Dong* night. Good for us fans! We deserve it!

I’m not sure who I will vote for next week. I think I will wait for their performances to make up my mind.

While its true Adam has been consistently good, so has Kris, with the exception of that one time he had all those tweens surrounding him. So, I will not be sorry either way.

Yay! Kris is in the finals. !! I think the general consensus of the folks in my office is they all think Adam can “sang”…but are just way too tired of the predictable screaming. Yes, he’s got that total glam rock look and sound but most of us prefer him without the screams. I can’t wait to see them both pull out thier best stuff next week. Adam I see as a broadway performer…Kris, more mainstream pop radio type stuff. Should be a good show if they can keep the “judges” out of the elementary school playground mode.

I am tired, tired, tired of Adams screeching, can’t understand singing. Kris is good I liked Danny a lot I would have been happier if it were Danny and Kris in the finals. Adam’s singing does absolutely nothing for me even though he could sing if he weren’t screeching.

Whoa what a surprise. Well I don’t think Kris has a chance – but who knows – anything can happen.

    Adam all the way!!!!!

What was the purpose (of whoever that was that sang) of wearing Adam Lambert’s name on her cape? I didn’t get that at all!

Go Kris!! I wish it was Kris v. Danny, but oh well. I really think this could be an upset if a lot of Danny’s fans go over to Kris. Woo Hoo….. Let’s go!

I think the best thing about last night was seeing the shock on the judges faces when Kris was called safe. I think only Randy acted happy for him.

I also read something which explains Simon’s remarks to Kara Tuesday night (and why Kara so overreacted). According to MJ’s Blog, the judges were given the opportunity to work with the contestant for whom they made the song choice at rehearsal to help them make the most of their song. Simon helped Adam. None of the other judges took that opportunity. So, when Kara ragged on Kris about his interpretation, Simon called her on her lack of input into his performance. Simon can be an ass at times, but assuming that report is true, he was right this time.

I think next week is going to be great!

Wow what a season! I really liked all 3, but personally did vote for Kris, so am happy with the outcome…but…can Kris beat Adam? Possibly if Adam tries to out sing himself, if he ‘plays it safe’ and doesn’t try to show off, he could pull it off and win over the Danny fans that might otherwise convert to Kris. Either way, two completely differant styles/voices/people. This makes it more fun Having said that….haha Still wishing it was an Adam/Allyson final (sad face) Just remember, you can’t whine about it if you don’t vote!!!

I was a little surprised that it was Kris and not Danny. This could really be a upset if the Danny fans move over to Danny just to piss off the judges, since they are so pro Adam. The thing with Katie Perry wearing the cape with Adam’s name on it. Please!!!! This season is so biased towards Adam, with Simon and now the cape. I almost hope Kris wins.

I wish them both luck next week.

Kris has that voice that appeals to a broad spectrum of America. Adam has a fantastic voice but he is too over the top for most in my generation (old). I see Danny fans gravitating to Kris.

Love to watch Adam. Don’t like to listen to him for long periods of time. Could be his downfall. Bet we see him come at us with something easy listening next week. He has all of his loyal fans already. Needs to do something to appeal to and bring over the Danny fans.

Way off the subject here……..but wonder if David Cook and Kimberly Caldwell are still dating? Anyone out there in “Idol-Land” know?

I didn’t know which way last night would go between Kris and Danny. Now I’m not sure how next week will go.
I have said from the beginning that Adam would win, thinking it would be Adam & Allison. But hmmm. Two different styles….hmmm. I too think Adam needs to play it cool next week. We all know by now that he can hit “that note”. Sexy it up a little with the “Elvis” type of look. Kris just needs to be Kris!

I think all of the top 4 will have record deals soon! They will all be successful in their own genre’s.

hmmm… so the danny fans would vote for adam if he pretends to be something other than a rock singer.
no one jumps all over steven tyler for the “scream”. he seems to be doing pretty well for himself and aerosmith for the last 39 years.
i hope that he stays true to himself and shows us what he wants to do after AI. people will vote for him or not, but at least he is being honest.
and i hope he really, really, brings it next week. i wish they could sing a longer version of the songs though.

Like I told my daughter last night as we watched Danny being eliminated – he did not lose he just didn’t make to the finale. We will hear a lot more of him when his recording career takes off. He’s still a winner!!!
I’m sure his wife is smiling down on him with proudness.
Wonder what happened to her anyway – don’t remember Danny mentioning it in the beginning.

The fix is in Simon has too much power. He said Adam and it will be Adam. Looking forward to seinn adam at next years Ms. USA event. He could even be a contestant!!!

idol worshipper I wasn’t saying that Adam shouldn’t be true to himself. I was saying he needs to be more than a one trick pony. He has the capability of appealing to a large segment of the population with his great vocals. His choice. Please the majority of the audience. Show us once again you can scream the big notes.

How hard does he want to win. Guess his song choice will say it all.

I thought it was very poor taste when she had Adam’s name on the back of her cape – being a little prejudice. What’s with these entertainers (or so called entertainers) that have been on the last few shows – they sound like recording rejects. That stupid Lady Gaga, No Doubt, then the idiot last night. I’m sure AI can come up with something better than that – like Carrie Underwood, Kelly Pickler, Kimberly Caldwell, Clay Aiken, etc.

American Idol needs to get rid of Kara.

And never, ever get rid of Ryan, Randy, Paula, or Simon
they are there to stay forever – they are icons.

i am with boobookitty… who ARE these people who have been on idol lately? guess i am showing my age, but i would much rather see past idol performers than the acts they have been choosing. i did not watch idol during the first few years, so i really would be interested in seeing who almost made it.

No, I am pretty sure David Cook and Kimberly Caldwell are no longer dating. He’s been touring the country doing shows at alot of colleges. He recently had to postpone his show in our area due to the death of his brother. Also…reading on another website it was said that Adam and Katie Perry have known each other since before Idol so she is indeed an Adam fan. Its not known whether idol producers knew about the “cape” beforehand but it seems they must have or why would they have zoomed in on it like that?
