Another Great Night in Hollywood

19225

For those of you who were frustrated during the auditions because mediocre talent was being sent through while quality singers were rejected, the weird choices don’t end in the citywide auditions. I remember being in Hollywood week and watching some incredible talent get sent home and wondering what the judges were thinking. One girl amazed her competition (us) so much that when the judges cut her, everyone in the room started booing them. It took me a while to realize that these judges are not looking for good. … They are looking for interesting and intriguing. And the truth is, that is what America will be looking for when the voting starts.

At this point during Hollywood week, there are very real emotions on display. Most of these folk who are cut know that this was the closest they would ever come to getting a shot at their dream. That being said, we enter day 3 of Hollywood week…

There is lots of drama this season. It should be fun to watch. Our season was pretty boring in the drama department because just about everyone got along really well. I think the drama keeps it interesting.

India Morrison’s group sings first and they are great! India’s rapping is incredible and I hope she stays around for a while to do that during the live performances. They all make it through.

Austin is the first word casualty and many follow suit…

Nick makes it to the next round without his comedy routine.

Emily Wynne Hughes forgets her words and we are about to see if Simon’s words prove true: “If you forget your lyrics, you go home.” And indeed, an early favorite – someone who was featured during commercials – is sent home for forgetting her lyrics.

Danny Gokey’s group cheers the judges up with an amazing performance.

Jeremy Michael Sarver, Adam Lambert, Matt Breitze and Jesse Langseth are featured and all easily make it through. The guys are incredible this year.

Finally, Rose Flack’s group is on. I am heartbroken to see Rose forget the words because I know what this means. Katrina and Rose are both sent home.

David Osmond, along with many other familiar faces, is cut.

Tatiana’s group is next to perform. She embarrasses herself by singing “I want to get through” after the number is finished. They sang well, and all of them get through. Tatiana is a little weird.

At the end of the day, we have an early front-runner – Danny Gokey. Unfortunately for Danny, the early front-runner never wins. Fortunately for him, they all go on to have careers in entertainment in some capacity.

Well it certainly was bikini beach night wasn’t it? (Note: I’m not going to spellcheck so if certan words begininng with b are misspelled, please forgive).

And then there is Tatiana with the annoying laugh (I have closed caption and that is how they describe it so don’t blame me for being mean). For whatever reason (oh we see the reason soon enough), she cannot find a group that wants her. Then she proceeds to take over the group that finally says yes and either saves it or almost dooms it. Still, not content to sow discontent in her own group, she bounces off to another group and may or may not have sown the first seeds of discontent there…as the sweet blonde says she can join…the tough redhead says no..and nathaniel just cries. Good news is that Tatiana’s group makes it through. Bad news is that she does too. And the group she made dysfunctional? Well, the tough redhead (whose work ethic I supported) looked too beachy in the performance and she is gone.

The hardest thing was watchng Rose go home. I knew she was not strong enough to make it through but why did her experience have to include the insufferable bikini girl? She might have forgotten her lyricis anyway but that bikini girl…well she is not up there with Stephen Fowler from Friday’s Wifeswap episode on people you wish never got on Reality TV, but Kara had her pegged at the audition and at least got the last (censored) word on her.

As for the rest..the helmet head guy who Paula or Kara said had an incredible voice. I vaguely remember his audition and don’t remember his name. And I’m not sure which group he was in tonite. But he is a dark horse I think even though I hate his hair (hey I hated David Cook’s hair too but learned to love it as I got to know him).

Thank goodness group night is over because I get all upset at people messing up the chances of other people. I realize they have to know how these people will act under stress and I’m sorry my Rose didn’t do well.

Tomorrow I hope we see less drama and more singing. All of them have talent and I want to see it.

Bikini girl was a cancer. Did you notice after they got cut during their group hug, she didn’t want to participate? As a matter of fact, she had to stand away from the group so she could get more camera on her! I am really surprised her group didn’t jump on her and put a good licking on her!!

I’m going to dwell on the positives from last night. So this will be brief. #1 Bikini girl is GONE!! Sigh of RELIEF!!!! #2 Danny Gokey’s group was FABULOUS! Not only is he a wonderful singer but he represents the teaching profession very well. Go Danny!!

I didn’t get to watch all of it last night. Why did David Osmond get cut? Did he forget the words? I am so relieved that bikini girl got the boot. My goodness, is she a witch or what. That girl needs to understand she isn’t anything but a nice body. Her heart and soul or talent certainly isn’t up on the same level as her backside! I’m sorry that Rose didn’t make it, but she surely would have had a nervous breakdown before the show got halfway through the season.

I haven’t got all the names and faces down yet, but that 1st group was definitely a very hard act to follow.

    Happy season 8 everyone!

Yes, they’ve lost a whole segment by eliminating David Osmond! The grandma vote would have loved him just because he reminded us of Donny Osmond. Too bad.

What was the reason that David Osmond was eliminated. He did sing well. We never even got to see him perform in the group audition on Wednesday and now he’s gone. Will we ever find outo?

Instead of showing all the groups perform, they had to show some girl Thanking Jesus, God, Santa Claus, and the Easter Bunny. I think if they gave her more time, she would have thanked the Tooth Fairy as well. Oh… and too much airtime for Bikini thing (which I would like to see her 5 years from now, after she realizes that the world does not revolve around her, and her poop does stink)!!

The more I watch this show, the more I realize that it is NOT about talent. I feel sorry for those people being made fools of for the sake of ratings! That group that Randy dismissed, the one where the two GOOD singers were sent home and the AWFUL ones were sent through to the next round…..well, that just confirmed what I said in my first sentence. And Tatiana – another no-talent, was solely kept for the ratings….(i.e. her irritating laugh). American Idol…..WHAT A JOKE!

You’re right ilovemusic, about the two bad ones that were kept!! I thought for sure that the two they kept were on their way out!

The main comment I heard at the office the next morning as we “gathered around the water cooler” so to speak, was TOO MUCH DRAMA. Most people shared the opinion that the show wasted too much time showing the drama queens carrying on. The few really good auditions they showed did not provide enough entertainment to offset the uncomfortable feelings you got watching the rest of the show. Come on Idol, give us entertainment, not fussing and fighting. I wish they would have showed David Osmonds group. Maybe they figured he had other doors open to him if he really wanted to break onto the music scene, given his family ties.

I read that David Osmond was cut because laryngitis stole his vocals on stage, he couldn’t sing. I think it would be heartbreaking and cruel to watch such a talented singer trying to sing without his voice. I, for one, am grateful they didn’t show it. That would be very awkward and sad.

That said, I’m VERY, VERY happy my favourite contestant is doing so well. GO DANNY!

I hadn’t heard that about David Osmond. I agree with you about Danny…I really like him but it will be heartbreaking when he and his friend get separated…His friend is pretty good too.
