Seriously? That’s all we get from the hometown visits? David A. with the freaky mustachioed mayor? Syesha getting a text message in a limo? David C. goofing on Kansas City’s Fox Channel 4?
What about that David Cook parade? That David Cook concert in the Power and Light District? That David cook pitch at the Royals game?
I would be more upset if my “Idol” of choice, Kansas City’s David Cook, had not completely set himself apart on Tuesday as the absolute only logical choice for this year’s “Idol” title.
Those “Idol” producers aren’t stupid. They’re still smarting from the Daughtry debacle, and they’re not about to let a legit rocker lose it again this time. At least that’s what I’m hoping.
My Kansas City allegiance aside, I think it was still pretty clear on Tuesday that David Cook is the most talented of the remaining three contestants.
He managed to turn Roberta Flack’s soft and sentimental “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” into a legitimate rock ballad, and he sang Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” way better than Stephen Tyler could ever hope to.
Are Syesha and David A. even in the same league? Her “If I Ain’t Got You” was pretty good, and his “And So It Goes” was among his least creepy performances ever, but as a whole, the soon-to-be runners up didn’t even come close to delivering anything worth remembering.
Oh, wait. I take that back. Sadly, I will never stop remembering David Archuleta’s cover of Chris Brown’s “With You.” Dressed in his best Blake Lewis-wear, poor David danced like he was at his first seventh-grade mixer. Worse, he sang the lyric “boo,” a term that a little baby face like David should use only if it’s Halloween. Mark that down as one of the most awkward performances in “Idol”‘ history.
I’m still predicting a David-David finale, and if it isn’t Cook, a great injustice will have been committed, and I will lead an army to the Power and Light district in protest.
So what did you think? Will it be David and David? Didn’t it feel like the judges were trying to influence voters against Syesha? And who’s going to win it all?

David Cook has to win this thing because he is the best singer/performer on the show. And if not because of that, he must win because he is a Royals fan. There are so few of us out there. KC needs a champion. Bring it home, DC.
Yo DLo, thanks for the catch. I swear I know the difference.
And one more thing … this is the Best (Idol) Blog Ever!
Oh man..they threw Syesha under the bus tonight. Last week that sexy stuff worked just fine for the judges but this week it was evidently NOT on the judges script. Randy did throw her a bone with his song choice since she had evidently already sung that as a contestant on a failed reality show called *The One* which I did not see and evidently no one else did as I believe it lasted no more than 3 episodes. I see no difference between her most recent performances and tonights (all were snoozers) and that the judges trashed her for doing what they have praised to the skies the last three weeks was pretty predictable and only enhances the cynic in me.
David A’s second performance reminded me entirely too much of Kristy Lee Cook’s every performance and pretty much rivaled Eight Days a Week with a Yodel at the end. I guess banning Daddy Archuletta from backstage did not inhibit him from once again making his kid look like a complete tool by choosing a *young* song (to get votes). Memo to Jeff Archuletta.. from Naomi Judd..by way of Chris Crocker…*leave David alone*
David Cook knocked me out with the Roberta Flack song. I knew it would either be a triumph or a disaster and he triumphed. Unfortunately, I think he lost his focus on the other two songs. I have read that Simon has chosen this song for his contestants in his UK songs…he is evidently obsessed with it. Good for David Cook to knock it out and bring a near tear to my eye. Plus…I’m glad he winked at his mom…I’m thinking they are typical midwestern stock…we don’t emote in public thank you very much.
I have learned a new musical term this season. It is called melisma. google it. or just listen to david arculetta after the first 10 bars of every song he sings.
Denise - I live in KC and have LOVED reading your post each week and now several of my friends are followers too! I was at the Power and Light deal and the Parade (my one day to be a groupie) and David Cook is even cooler in person than on t.v.! He is the real deal. They said that most of the hometown coverage will be on Wednesday night so I’m excited to see how they portray the KC festivities.
I thought the judges were being hard on Syesha too. Randy is always so high on David A. and I just don’t get it - I’m not sure I can take another week of his whiny voice!
As a side note, I bought a David Cook t-shirt - I’ve worn it twice and I’m not exaggerating when I say that TONS of people came up to me and chatted idol! Quite funny! I had one 60+ lady tell me that last week she had voted over 200 times for David C. (you are probably wondering how she knew it was over 200 - she keeps a scratch pad and tallies her votes!!). So, if you need an idol fix, just grab a David Cook t-shirt and go shopping.
yikes! I accidentally posted my name as my e-mail address. If you could remove my e-mail address, I would really appreciate it.
dont worry mary..we will not abuse your email address…unless you want a free computer from samsung? really just kidding!!!
am i the only one who caught david a. missing the words to chris brown’s song? now i know its fixed because hes just plain boring. GO DAVID C!
I’m sorry to say I didn’t get to really listen to the show last night but from what I could hear I was totally unimpressed with Sayesha (again) and David A (still). David C again blew the competition out of the water. Could Sayesha have possibly gotten a shorter dress so we could see what God gave her on “Fever”? If she was after the men votes that might have gotten her a few extra and I kept expecting her to straddle the chair like a cabaret act. David A didn’t look at all comfortable singing his songs and I would just for once like him to stand up there and tell the world that he really has never picked the songs that he sings. Blame it on daddy dearest! I would really like to see a David C & Sayesha finale because then we could guarantee David C to be declared 2008 AI but if it is a 2 David finale I’m afraid the young girl votes will make it a “gag me” Archuleta win.
I think David C. has it wrapped up. I did notice that David A. forgot words to his song.
Can just vision Ryan saying “and the winner of this years American Idol is David….(very long hesitation)……………………………..Cook.
Although I believe David C will win the competition, I thought he totally butchered Don’t Want to Miss a Thing. Loved The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face though. Can’t even remember what his other song was.
With the right coaching, David A could be great. Daddy needs to leave him alone and let the REAL professionals do their job.
Syesha….what can I say….she is trying to win votes by shaking her hips and showing her legs.
Apparently I’m the only one in Wichita that thought David Cook sounded awful last night. It’s obvious the judges want him to win because they praised him anyway. From KC or not, I was disappointed because I usually think he sounds great. Something was missing. And I actually thought Sayesha sang beautifully, though I usually don’t like her. Sorry David C but I don’t think that was your best night!
Archie- Can’t stand his dad or his voice anymore! We definitely don’t need an idol with either of those qualities.
Sayesha- Hoochie outfits only get you so far. This is a singing competition!
David Cook- I still stand beside him as the next winner!
WHO CARES???????????IT’ A SHOW PEOPLE!!IT’S NOT EVEN GOOD. BTW, THEY PICK THE WINNER LONG BEFORE THE SHOW ENDS. IT’S ALL A SET-UP
David Cook—all the way. He’s got a fantastic future no matter what and I can’t wait to see where it takes him! I absolutely love him.
I will not waste my time (or yours) commenting on the other two singers.
At this time I would like to give a shout out to my husband. I would like tell him that if he cancels my recording of elimination night tonight (because I will not be home) that he is going to be sorry!!! And if he thinks eating Hamburger Helper once a week is bad just wait until I serve it every night for the next six weeks.
(I missed seeing Jason Castro go home last week and I will not be a happy camper if I don’t get to see David A leave tonight!!!!)
David C. was absolutely fabulous last night! I thought he was better than the original artists. Without a doubt he showed us who the winner should be. Syesha, again was off key more than she was on, and was just down right shrieking at times. Archie was his same old self, but worse, maybe the wear and tear is showing. I did look at him once, as I can’t stand to do so, and he really just creeps me out. He keeps those eyes half closed and that Frankenstein hairdo, is just too much. David C. all the way!
Idol? you should get off this blog. If you don’t like the show, don’t watch it and stay off of blogs dedicated to it.
That said, I still love David Cook… win or not, I will probably by a CD.
Syesha blew it with her choice of “Fever”. What was she thinking? That was her chance to shine and she failed miserably choosing that number! As I’ve said all along, it will be David vs. David in the finals; and of the two, the winner SHOULD BE David Cook. I’m sure the other two will be picked up by some record label, though.
Jenny, you go girl!!!! Hamburger Helper….yummy??!!?? lol
The fact that there is a blog devoted to American Idol illustrates what is wrong with America! Are there not better things to do with our time than to talk about some made up “reality” show?
Idol? Why don’t you just buzz off and talk to people who actually care what you are saying! This is an American Idol Post and you can see your way out of it if all you want to do is whine and complain!
“Are there not better things to do with our time” Good question idol. Don’t you have anything better to do than be annoying???? Obviously not if you have enough time on your hands to go to a message board that you care nothing about just to make stupid comments and be a pain in the ass.
I think both Davids are awesome! I think David Cook is a little too cocky at times, but he is awesome. I absolutely LOVE David A’s voice. It is so smoothe and the words come out of his mouth so easily. I have read so much about people saying they would not go see David A in concert because all he does is stand there. Have any of you been to a George Strait concert? He performs on a square stage and for each song moves to the next side and STANDS while he sings. And how many millions of dollars has HE made over the years??
I won’t be disappointed if either David won. They are both awesome and will both have amazing careers.
Ok, don’t EVEN compare David A. to George Strait. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. I’ve been to a George Strait concert & all he has to do is sing & smile & it makes you melt. David A. sings & it makes me gag.
I’m not comparing David A to George Strait. I’m just saying you don’t have to run around and act like a fool on stage to get people to come to your concerts.
