The Blue Springs parade is on!

jason_c.jpgOohhhhh, but the one in Rockwall, Texas, is off.

As predicted by the mince-no-words Sir Cowell, Jason Castro’s packed bags will come in handy tonight because he’s out, a victim of his own doing. Give an accuracy award to whichever friend told Jason that he “Shot the Tambourine Man” on Tuesday night.

This means that David Archuleta, David Cook and Syesha Mercado are in the top three. It also means that all the Cook-related festivities planned in the Kansas City area will go on as planned on Friday.

What to make of the final three? I’m glad David Cook is in it. I still think it’ll be a David-David finale. And I still say that if Cook doesn’t win, “Idol” will have officially jumped the shark. I’ll try to stop short, though, of the predictable behavior of swearing “Idol” off for good when my favorite contestant is cut.

One comment before we finish. Who, I demand to know, is responsible for those dreadful, ill-fitting matador outfits the contestants were forced to pour themselves into for this week’s Ford commercial? My screen was suddenly filled ALL KINDS of sides of those four people I did not need to see. Furthermore, can we please cut the cheesy choreography of the opening results night number once the finalists are a rocker, a dreadlocker, a teenbot boy and one poor girl who has to carry the whole number herself? AWKWARD!!!!!

So what do you think? Who’s going to win it all? Who’s getting cut next week? And who’s ready for a roadtrip to KC on Friday?

Whew. Jason seemed genuinely relieved. He knew he was out of his league. Loved his attitude…such a cutie!

I have to agree with you, Jason really seemed like THANK YOU for getting me off this show! I am so glad someone else thought that commercial was terrible in addition to that opening number. That was just uncomfortable to watch. Wow, what do we have to look forward to next week? yawn, yawn….

Well, I was a big baby and didn’t watch the show tonite. I was afraid I would throw my shoe at Randy and Simon for their hateful comments to Jason last night and their obsession with David Archuletta. I just checked the boards at 9 pm to find out for sure what I expected to happen did in fact happen. I just loved that Jason kid. From what I read he went out with some jokes and some class so that is good.

Denise, couldn’t agree with you more. That opening act was stiff & painful to watch as the Idols tried to remember which way to march. And that bull fight thing, oh, my gosh!!! I usually think those Ford commercials are cool & creative, even if it is blatant advertising, but this week the guy who normally thinks those up must have been on vacation. I think Jason’s “stoner” image might not be too far from the truth. He admitted on one of those goofy questions that his biggest challenge was being “brain-dead” and then said he didn’t know what he would have done next week with having to prepare 3 songs. Have you noticed that the Vote for the Worst contestant keeps getting voted off this year? They picked Amanda Overmyer (remember Cruella DeVille?) and she got voted off. Then they picked Kristy Lee, Brooke, & now Jason & each one got voted off. (I think there was 1 or 2 others in between there too.) But all got voted off quickly after being picked as the Vote for the Worst contestant. I’m glad that group’s influence is on the way out.

The critique of Jason was way too harsh on Tuesday. He was charming on Wednesday when voted off–much better than Brooke and Syesha will be “if” she ever gets the boot.
Ryan seems to be playing favorites lately. He didn’t give David C any time to talk after his songs. Did anyone notice that? And then Syesha got the chance to ramble on and on and cry and cry. I did think that she was improving but that act was enough to get her off the show. I was so disappointed that she didn’t go instead of Jason because of her dramatic posturing. There’s no place for that in the show and Ryan needs to be replaced if he allows that sort of thing to happen.
I do like David C and think he is an all round entertainer and has been consistently great. He should be very successful.
As far as the best singer–it’s David A. He has been consistently great too. He just isn’t the entertainer that David C is. Since it’s a singing contest, David A should win. I, too, have missed the reason for his dad’s bashing. What is wrong with someone just standing and singing? Why do they have to move and or jump around? I realize that is the modern way of performing but Josh Groban is having a nice career of letting his voice work for him rather than the jiving. There are a great many other singers who just stand and deliver. Is it possible that David A has an eye problem that is bothered by bright lights–my husband does. I just hate to see anyone lambasted for what might be a physical problem or a habit. Finally, if David A should win–AI will turn him into a bopper and he won’t be allowed to sing any more slow songs. That certainly happened to last year’s winner.

I kind of knew the journey was at its end. Jason didn’t thank America for voting for him and getting him to where he is today. Most contestants thank everyone, but he didn’t. Very awkward personality, but a Travolta look-a-like. Looks like a David-David finale.

I have decided that this is the last year I am wasting any time watching this. When 2 singers as bad as David A, and Syesha make it to the top 3, that is quit enough. Neither one can sing so much as one song in tune, and neither one can play an instrument, or perform. They just stand there and try to sing. Both should have been off the show long ago. Even KLS could sing better than Syesha, and everyone gave her crap. I was thrilled to see Michael and Carly are out performing together, as they should be in the top three. They were true performers and good vocalists. I am sorry to see Jason go, but hopefully will be able to hear him again, as he has the most relaxing voice, and style, I would love to be able to sit in front of the fire with a glass of wine and just listen to him sing his own music. People wake up and realize, that David C. is the ONLY true singer/performer left on here, and make sure he wins this thing.. it is the only right outcome, after the crap we have had to endure this season.

gs says “David A should win”…

Are you smoking crack?!?!?! Archie is the worst! He needs to be off the show. He sings the exact same thing every week. His voice is ok, but he has no range as a performer. I will tell you right now that we will never hear from this kid again after the season is over. He is so booooooooorrrrriiiiiinnnnnnggggggg. Cook at least has some personality when he performs.

I also disagree when you say it is a singing competition. It is not just a singing competition, it is American Idol. They are trying to create a pop star. That is someone who can entertain and relate to the crowd as well as sing.

They have to be the complete package and Archie is far from that.

    Denise,

I have enjoyed your blogs and have enjoyed reading the comments by Monica, Memaw, Hawkmama, etc.

I am not going to participate in the blogs any longer. I just don’t care to read the kind of garbage that Larry Flynn wrote in his comment about Paula.

I know there is supposed to be such a thing as free speech and it has been fun hearing what you all have to say…but the fun was taken out of it for me.

I think these blogs need to be “filtered” before they are posted. The majority of comments are fine to post…but no one needs to be subjected to someone who has no respect for other people.

By posting this link I’ll be forced to reveal my guilty pleasure (gossip sites). But, it made me feel a little better about Jason’s exit:

    (Work safe)

It really does look like he’s mouthing “Don’t Vote”. Could it be that he wanted to go home?

Maybe after the judges’ harsh comments he realized the fix is in, and he’s the next target?

It looks to me like he said “Vote, Vote”. If he said “Don’t vote” do you think there would have been the pause between words? I don’t think so.

Too bad he’s gone. Now we have to listen to Syesha one more week! (hopefully that’s all) Then it will be between the two Davids and it really doesn’t matter which one wins. The winner should have been Michael Johns anyway!

I think the reason Jason Castro did so bad, was because he did not care. He already knew he was going to finish fourth. And Syesha should know that next week, she will be GONE.

Michelle - you hit the proper chord with me - yes, a fire and a nice glass of pinot noir, and it will be Jason’s CD I’m listening to (certainly not David A or Syesha). Cook’s CD will be for the car. And I’m not knocking DA or Syesha, they are okay singers, it’s just that I don’t see them selling lots of CDs. I WILL MISS SEEING JASON ON THE SHOW!

Just had to post one last thought about Jason. His exit interviews were humble, heartwarming, and surprisingly coherent (dare I say intelligent?) No finger pointing, no excuses. Actually said *well the other three are better than me so I cannot offer them any advice*. Also, some things I’ve been reading lead me to believe he is actually NOT the stoner some sites (not this one) have portrayed him to be. He evidently has strong ties to his church. Which was interesting to me not because of the religious elements but because it does go against how he was perceived by a lot of people. I just think he was a sweet kid…he only seriously started music his first year in college and truly did lack the experience of the other contestants. I just hope he can continue *makin music*.

While he clearly fell apart in the later rounds of the competition he sort of seems like what Idol was supposed to be about…finding raw talent and developing it. Rant over. I still want to adopt him!

I agree with Sherry. If the blogs were filtered, surely Tbone wouldn’t have been able to accuse me of crack. I really don’t appreciate it. Just to set the record straight–never have used drugs, alcohol, or tobacco. Have you noticed that others since the beginning have also voiced an opinion that David A is good, Tbone??? Why not jump on them with your nasty remark? Maybe I missed something–I thought people could voice their opinion without getting crude responses. You are entitled to disagree but not in your offensive manner.
Finally, maybe you need to check with Simon (who started AI, didn’t he). He has said that it is a singing competition.
Finally, I do not intend to get into a back and forth discussion with you, Tbone. That would not be fair to the others. If you decide to respond in your uncivilized way, I will not answer but let the other readers decide about your classlessness. If you choose to apologize, I accept (if you truly have learned to give your opinion in a civilized way).

I hope David A wins….not because I like him, but because the one who wins Idol gets the shaft with the Idol contract–you sign your life away and get forced to put out awful albums. Lady Sparks was one of my all time favorites and it’s too bad her CD has two decent songs on it.

I hope David Cook gets second so we can hear him work his magic on some super amazing stuff!!!
