Blasphemy!

Note: This weeks’ Idol coverage is written by guest blogger Monica. Denise returns next week.

All right, I know a number of you are cheering about Amanda’s departure but can you honestly say that Kristy Lee Cook is a better performer? At least Amanda gives it some heart and doesn’t look like some vanilla scared bunny in the headlights every time she performs. I just liked that rocker chick, and I think she would have been a better mix for the tour than Kristy Lee or Syesha (who is now on my second-to-last favorite list after that trick with the skimpy top last night and her weak and self-indulgent variations on the classic Yesterday).

But this was a surprising show. I nearly fell off my sofa when Carly turned up in the bottom three. Her performance this week was the only one of her performances I liked. I wonder if she came off as sort of whiny to people when she talked about how hard it was to break into the business. For some reason though, there are a number of people who do not warm up to her, including me. Still, to put her in the same category as Kristy Lee is indeed blasphemy!

From the comments on this blog and everything I’ve heard today from other fans (OK, three others), the second week of the Beatles was a mistake. Those kids just don’t know what to do with the songs and I think the producer’s don’t either because the opening medley tonight was weak and…dare I say BORING? Still, I can’t complain too much as despite their slip ups this week, Brooke and Jason are still here. To me the group now falls in three tiers.

  • David Archuleta, David Cook and Brooke are the ones to beat.
  • Jason, Carly, Michael Johns and Chikezie (if he gets his act together as he did last week) are the dark horses.
  • The weakest are Ramiele, Syesha and Kristy, and if I were queen of the world they would go out in reverse order.

I’m sure glad Denise will be back next week because I’m going to turn the volume down in my own private protest when Kristy Lee Cook stands up and twangs next week.

It’s been great fun guest blogging and thank you to Denise and those who said nice things about my post yesterday. Please don’t gloat too much about my poor Amanda!

FINALLY…..America got it absolutely right this week and no one is happier than moi to bid Amanda adieu. I think Kristy has dodged her final bullet and surely next week will be her last. But what was up with Carly occupying one of those dreaded three seats? She’s not my favorite and never will be, but she’s far better than Ramiele or the Aussie hottie or Syesha.

Did I gloat too much, Monica? I hope not. I didn’t mean to. You did a great job of filling in for Denise.

I was shocked when Carly ended up in the bottom three! She is one of my favorites. Has a beautiful voice and some personality. I’m not sorry to see Amanda go. She sounds the same no matter what song she does. But Kristy lee is definitely worse and should have gone first. She’s not even on key about a third of the time. I think she has the support of the votefortheworst.com contingent. How embarrassing for her. I think she knows she’s not as good as the others.

Monica, I too was shocked at Amanda’s exit. Kristy is awful, no argument there. I thought Amanda always gave interesting, FUN performances. I would go to see her perform (coming to a smoke-filled bar near the area anytime soon?) Please, please, let Kristy be next to go.

Kristy should have gone before Amanda. Amanda would be good on the show Dave Navarro hosted with rock bands looking for new lead singers. She should have a great career regardless.
I LOVED the opening number last night. The group singing is one of my favorite aspects of this stage in the show: with so many good singers the harmonies are gorgeous. And in the end… got me all verklempt!

Amanda is by far, not a favorite of mine. But I do think she was a stronger singer than Kristy Lee. And while I’ve been very slow to warm up to Carly, I think Blackbird is my favorite performance from her. She definately didn’t belong in the bottom three.

What a shame someone like Amanda was voted off and Syesha, Ramiel, and David Archeluta were left to bore us weekly. Amanda was a true rocker inspired by the true rock n’ roll spirit. I will miss her alot. Michael, Carly, and David Cook will have to carry on, at least they are still there. The show would be so totally boring without them. Kristy Lee isn’t the best, but she has a much better voice than Syesha, or Ramiel, and I could listen to her over them, anytime. America really needs to get their heads on straight, or we will have another winner like the other forgetable winners, not a stand out that will really have a career. Look what America did to Daughtery. You are on track to do the same thing this year.

It is just a tragedy that Kristy Lee is still here occupying air time. As in my previous post I still believe Amanda wasn’t long for the show but for her to go before K.L. is so pathetic. I thought the opening number was horrendous and felt that the singers were totally disconnected from the songs. I do believe with the exception of K.L. this is the best season of A.I. They do have an awful lot of talent there and I LOVE country music but this might be kinda wild to see Dolly Parton mentoring these singers. One last thought…wasn’t Pickler great last night? I loved her and thought she did a fantastic job!

Actually Amanda was the votefortheworst candidate this year so far. Check it out. Now they’ll probably move on to Kristy Lee but looking at the site it’s still not decided. I kind of liked Amanda’s spunk and personality but her musical ability was nil. IMO, of course. Everyone has an O.

And memaw, I too loved Kelly Pickler’s performance. She’s been very successful with her post-idol life and I think she deserves all the good things that come her way.

oh poor Carley saying how the business is hard and it keeps you down. Oh, she must be talking about how her MCA record only sold 300 copies and how MCA spent millions on her to make her the next big thing but it didn’t work out.

I think they hit the bottom three on the money, and the right person was voted off this week. Kristy is not nearly the performer that Amanda is, but Amanda would never have fit in on the Idol Tour. You can already tell that the producers were having a hard time finding a role for her in the group productions. Carly has a real problem connecting with the audience in my opinion. She just doesn’t seem to come off very genuine, unlike performers like Chikeze and Jason and Brooke. That’s always been a put off to me, and has cursed other performers in seasons past. I see the final three being Jason, David A, David C this season, with David C finally pulling off the rocker upset.

I forgot one thing. The second week of Beatles songs was not a good decision at all. In two weeks, I can only think of 4-5 performances where the artists actually connected with the music and lyrics. I don’t think that Sir Paul and Ringo could have been too proud of what they saw. Maybe the kids were just too young to appreciate?
