Another four bite the dust

So, let me make sure I’ve got this straight.

People are actually voting for Amanda Overmyer. They’re actually picking up their telephones and dialing those 11 numbers, repeatedly if necessary. Not only are they volunteering to listen to her butcher another song next week, but they’re willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen.

This has to be fixed, right?

Well, I’m sorry to be so sarcastic, but I just can’t understand why she’s still there, especially over Alaina Whitaker, who — although not a stellar talent — at least hit a couple of notes during her brief ‘Idol’ tenure. Poor thing — her 17-year-old ego could barely take the surprise ejection, and can you blame her? She’ll probably be listed in the high school yearbook as “Most Likely to Lose National Singing Competition To Funky Haired Growling Nurse.”

The rest of the ejections weren’t so surprising. Dreadful but dear Jason Yeager is gone, as is promising but unlucky Alexandrea Lushington. I’m slightly surprised about Robbie Carrico, but only because I thought Luke Menard would go first.

Looks like he’s next.

Tune in next week to see of Amanda Overmyer finds a fit, if Ramiele Malubay finds a facial expression other than tearful, if David Archuleta finds a single thing he can do to displease the judges and who exactly will be in the top 12.

Makes me think that Amanda might be this year’s “vote for the worst” candidate.

I totally did not get the Amanda thing. She was way awful this week. I think she has a good voice when sticking to her range ie: Janis Joplin and the like but not that song. As for Robbie, he was pretty bad and I predict Luke will be gone next week.

I hate this part of the competition. It is always a popularity contest. Some real talent always gets kicked off and some really bad (Amanda) talent gets to stick around.

http://www.votefortheworst.com is recommending people call in for both Amanda Overmeyer and Danny Noriega. Please help us from both of them!!!!! No wonder Amanda the Lion is still there. OMG!!! I suppose the people who do this derive some weird form of satisfaction by their actions. Frankly, I think they are mean and nasty. Not only because it forces people to leave who shouldn’t have to leave, but because it gives the freaks who can’t sing false hope that they are doing better than they are.

Amanda is the absolute worst as well as Danny what’s his face - the “esh” guy.

Did anyone else get as annoyed as I was when they kept flashing the camera on the contestants crying like a bunch of big babies while the “losers” were singing their last songs?? I guess the show tactics are starting to wear on me…that and the fact that this season I started out hopeful and excited, thinking they might have some real talent…and then after seeing these first two weeks I feel pretty disappointed. No excitement, not even any real interest anymore. Sigh….

I think they should can the whole “one last song” thing anyway. It is especially cruel to make them try to sing when they have a huge grapefruit in their throat and are feeling lower than dirt for being voted off. I really felt bad for Alaina last night. That was just meaner than mean…..

Laura — Pretty sure that Chikezie attended Bethel College in Newton for a brief time. Check out the photo on this website: http://www.thekansan.com/stories/031005/accent_0310050031.shtml

Amanda Overmyer is the ‘Sanjaya’ of Season 7. Try as they may, even the judges can’t convince the voters she isn’t any good. And Danny Noriega has just too much attitude for a kid his age. And even less talent.

This week it should be both Amanda’s and Danny’s turns to leave. Let’s hope that they aren’t around to screw up Lennon/McCartney songs next week.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Ramiele and David Archuleta end up in the Top 4 this year. Both have shown they have their way with the judges. Let’s face it, this year’s crop is not as talented as the last two seasons put together. We don’t have a Daughtry, Hicks, Doolittle, or Sparks in the bunch. This year it looks like a one-man race with David leading the way.
