UPDATED — Monica’s Bundt Cake still has plenty of bundts, just no Monica.
Monica Schlegel, who started the business at 1328 E. Douglas in 2004, has sold her company.
“A delightful young woman came along with a business that seemed to pair very nicely with what we were doing,” Schlegel says of Susy Ellis. “So it worked out nicely.”
Ellis owns Amazing Creations by Susy, which offers event planning, decorating and balloon art. She also makes 3-D cakes.
“I’ve been looking for … a place,” says Ellis, a native of Venezuela. “I fell in love with the flavors and what she’s been doing.”
She says she won’t change any of Monica’s Bundt Cake offerings but will add her services to the business.
“My idea is for people to come to one place and have more than one thing done.”
