WICHITA — There’s a new barbershop with an unusual name coming to the 13th and Grove area.
Jon Schupbach is opening Quo Vadis at 2421 E. 13th St.
“It is kind of a technical name,” Schupbach says of what’s known as a “Quo Vadis” style of cut. “I wanted something more distinctive.”
Schupbach isn’t a barber. He’s hoping to lease five chairs to others.
His own barber, Archie Roman of Archie’s Barber Shop near 13th and Tyler, suggested the Quo Vadis name.
“It’s a style of ethnic haircut,” Schupbach says. “President Obama, he wears a Quo Vadis haircut where it’s shaved close, high and tight.”
He says it’s a distinct cut, particularly around the sides and back of the neck.
Schupbach bought the center near the southeast corner of 13th and Grove 1½ years ago and has extensively remodeled the more than 80-year-old building.
