Toc’s Coffeehouse won’t reopen; building is listed for lease

WICHITA — A Wichita tradition has come to an end.

Toc’s Coffeehouse is not reopening after all.

Earlier this month, owners Paul and Eunice Nam said they were temporarily closed due to an issue with a hot water heater and that they were struggling to find a new one.

The Nams took over the more than 60-year-old Toc’s, a breakfast favorite, at 1519 S. George Washington Drive four years ago.

They said their restaurant would reopen despite an issue with back taxes.

State figures show they owe $23,244, though Paul Nam says he’s not sure that is correct.

The Nams didn’t return a call for comment this week.

Landmark Commercial Real Estate has the building listed for lease. Interested individuals can contact Landmark broker Lewis Kelley.

Toc’s Coffeehouse temporarily closes

WICHITA — Toc’s Coffeehouse, a Wichita tradition, has temporarily closed due to a hot water heater issue.

Even though owners Paul and Eunice Nam also are struggling with tax issues, they say their restaurant will reopen and remain open.

The Nams took over the decades-old Toc’s at 1519 S. George Washington Drive four years ago.

Paul Nam says the recent ban on smoking has caused a drop in sales.

“That hurt us.”

Nam says he’s not sure how much he owes the state — state figures show $23,244 — but he says his accountant is working out a payment plan for him.

Look for the restaurant to reopen possibly as soon as early next week.

“As soon as I have hot water.”
