All Paws Pet Center owner to open third store, this time in Derby’s Spring Creek

UPDATED — Less than five years after opening his first All Paws Pet Center, Paul Baumann is opening his third.

The new store will be in Occidental Management’s Spring Creek shopping center at Madison and Rock Road in Derby.

“There was definitely a need for our store,” Baumann says.

The 4,800-square-foot store will be slightly smaller than his west-side store, which is in 5,200 square feet at 13th and Maize, and slightly larger than his 4,500-square-foot east-side store in the Tallgrass Shopping Center at 21st and Rock Road.

The Derby store will be in the former Nifty Fifty space.

Occidental’s Stephanie Wiens handled the deal.

West-side All Paws Pet Center to relocate to 13th and Maize

WICHITA — Paul Baumann is preparing to make what he calls a 60-second move.

In October, he plans to relocate his west-side All Paws Pet Center from 21st and Maize to 13th and Maize.

“We’re only moving literally 60 seconds away,” Baumann says.

His store, which Baumann says has everything for a happy, healthy pet, has been near the southeast corner of 21st and Maize for almost four years. Baumann says it’s a great corner, but it has its drawbacks, too.

“It’s difficult getting in and out of the shopping center,” he says. “At 13th and Maize, you can get right in.”

He’ll be at 1444 N. Maize in a 9,100-square-foot center where Little Caesars pizza is.

Baumann likes that the center has plenty of parking and the building has an open floor plan that allows him to have more shelf space and products.

Also, the training and seminar center will now be on the main floor of the business instead of on the second floor away from the sales area.

“It’s the nuance of retail,” Baumann says of his move. “You have to sit there and think about what the customer is thinking.”

All Paws Pet Center to open at 21st and Rock

WICHITA — The customer is always right, as they say, so All Paws Pet Center owner Paul Baumann is listening to his customers and opening an east-side location.

In addition to his almost 3-year-old store near the southeast corner of 21st and Maize, Baumann is opening one at the northeast corner of 21st and Rock.

The 4,500-square-foot store will open in early August.

Like his west-side store, Baumann says, he’ll carry “basically everything you need for a happy, healthy pet.”

Baumann likes the new space because it’s in the center of so much and is easily accessible.

“It’s just a perfect location,” he says.

And it may not be his last one.

“Right now we don’t have plans we can talk about,” Baumann says.

But he also says, “You never know.”
