Joe’s Italian Bistro to open in former Senor Tequila space on South Broadway

WICHITA — The Memecci family is bringing one of its Italian restaurants to Wichita.

The family has more than 80 restaurants across several states, including Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nebraska, New York and Illinois.

This is the first Kansas restaurant for the family.

Tony Memecci and his brothers Mike and Al plan to open Joe’s Italian Bistro in the former Senor Tequila space near Broadway and Pawnee.

The family also operates Joe’s Pizza and Pasta restaurants.

The bistro is named for the brothers’ father, Joe Memecci.

“Everybody in my family is in the business,” Tony Memecci says.

The restaurant here will serve pasta, pizza, chicken, seafood and salad.

Memecci says he needs to study liquor laws, but he thinks he’ll serve only beer and wine.

“The Italian food goes very well with beer and wine,” he says.

He and his brothers will share managing and cooking duties.

“We do everything,” Memecci says.

He’s working on a west-side restaurant as well and will let us know when he gets a lease.
