Larry Bud’s Sports Bar & Grill to open by fall in the former Brooklyn’s Chophouse space

WICHITA — There’s a new, unnamed owner of the former Brooklyn’s Chophouse building on West 21st Street, and he already has a tenant to lease the space.

It’s Larry Harmon, who has decided to locate his west-side Larry Bud’s Sports Bar & Grill there instead of in the former Two Brothers BBQ and Burger Grill space on West Central as he originally planned.

The owner of the former Brooklyn’s space, which was Players before that, “has a better deal for us,” Harmon says.

That space is about a third bigger than the 6,600-square-foot West Central space. Harmon says that offers “a lot of opportunities to do a lot more catering.”

He’s got a lot of remodeling ahead of him, so Harmon says he’s can’t give an opening date yet.

“It’ll be a little bit, but definitely before football season.”

Larry Bud’s Sports Bar & Grill to open in former Two Brothers BBQ and Burger Grill

WICHITA — Larry Harmon now confirms what Have You Heard? first reported last week.

He’s opening his second Larry Bud’s Sports Bar & Grill in the former Two Brothers BBQ and Burger Grill space at 8406 W. Central across from Bishop Carroll Catholic High School.

“There’s a lot of good bars in town,” Harmon says. When he opens, though, Harmon says, “You’re going to know that that’s the place to watch some sports.”

He’s finalizing the contract for the 6,600-square-foot space. Following that and extensive renovation, he’ll open. It’s not clear when that will be.

Harmon says he’s gutting the space to create what he calls a stadium area similar to his original Larry Bud’s in Brittany Center at 21st and Woodlawn.

Like that Larry Bud’s, the new one also will offer bus rides to Shocker games.

“It’s going to be a fun place to go,” Harmon says. “Our grand opening will be a killer.”

He’s not stopping there. Harmon plans additional locations as well.

“We’re going to continue from there and continue to grow.”

Larry Bud’s Sports Bar & Grill can serve alcohol once again

WICHITA — Larry Bud’s Sports Bar & Grill was briefly without its liquor license, but the matter is now resolved.

“It was a screw up on our part, but we never were shut down,” owner Larry Harmon says.

He says when the business first opened, it was licensed as a sports bar and grill.

Then, Harmon expanded the license to include catering, but he says that changed the date when he had to renew, and he missed it this year.

Late Friday evening, Larry Bud’s had to quit serving alcohol.

It was open for lunch — sans alcohol — Saturday but closed for dinner and then closed the next couple of days for the holiday.

“We just got everything straightened out,” Harmon says.

Larry Bud’s can serve alcohol once again.

“There’s a lot of rumors going around,” Harmon says. “Everything’s cool.”
